Dave, I tried to send you an email regarding the air filter, could you contact me (graeme.finlayson@vicorp.com or 07747-60-60-60eves)? Cheers, Graeme. _________________________________ www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk
  2. Carbon-fibre will not save you a lot of weight when compared with aluminium, however it is a lot more rigid. The weight saving over fibreglass is noticeable though. One thing to take into account is the quality/layers of the carbon used - the carbon-fibre on the R500s is quite thin (you can push your thumb into the nosecone). There was a brief discussion on the Sevens List (www.se7ens.net) estimating the total bodywork saving with carbon on the West-field, estimates were for ~15-17kg total. Cheers, Graeme. ________________________________________ www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk

Is this air filter to cover twin carbs? If so how much are you asking for it? Cheers, Graeme. _________________________________ www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk
  4. True true, I've wondered just how far you can go with carbon-fibre. It's always interesting to see what new components the F1 teams fabricate out of carbon each year. Aah, for an unlimited budget - gearbox casings, propshafts, suspension components. However, after speaking with some knowledgeable people (baseball capped teens driving a Fiesta), apparantly the carbon-fibre lookalike stuff is just as good...'sorted' even :) _____________________________________ www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk Edited by - Graeme on 13 Nov 2000 15:13:33

  7. It is very petty to censor other manufacturers names from messages. If postings about other Seven style kit cars are not wanted on this board then it should say so and I'm sure another board would spring up to allow the discussions to continue. If you look at the postings on the Sevens mailing list it is nice to see owners of all the different Seven style cars exchanging posts with no judgement whatsoever. Whether you own a Caterham, Robin Hood, West field, Sylva, Fraser, Fury, Tiger, LoCost, etc. etc. it's all a similar theme, based on the original concept. I however, find the censorship very hypocritical - perhaps owners of original Lotus 7s might object to the word Caterham being used? I realise the link with other manufacturers and the original Lotus Seven is more tenuous than Caterham's but they are still 'Sevenesque' cars. There are not a huge number of places on the internet to discuss the technical issues regarding Sevens, I was happy to find such a well supported and knowledgeable forum but the 'elitist' attitude is not welcoming. This attitude pops up now and again but the censorship of other manufacturers names just makes it worse. Please end this nonsense. Graeme. 8. Arnie, Yes I have a W e s t f i e l d (why on earth aren't we allowed to post the name on this board?), however it has been modified quite extensively and is the narrow chassis. I'm more Heathrow way than Gatwick (I'm over in Marlow), I'm heading over to London on Sunday for the Listers/CCC rolling road day at Emerald. Will you be around for that or is it possible to view the seats later that day? Feel free to contact me off forum if you wish (GFinlayson@vicorp.co.uk). 9. If these seats are still available I would be interested in seeing them. I would like to know the dimensions to see if they would fit into my car (the tunnel has been widened to move the engine back), are there any shots available of the seats or do you have dimensions? Cheers, Graeme. www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk
