Does anyone know the width of this axle type as fitted to some Lotus 7? Is it the 'narrow' version and is this 48.5 inches? Can anyone with one on their car measure it - I'm assuming it's the width from flange to flange on which the brake back plate is mounted? Many thanks.
Motorola units were also used at this time, these can be rebuilt to as new condition, possibly better, by two companies in the UK, Guy Auto Electrics 01920 822003 and Powerlite 01384 261984. This would allow you to use existing mounting points and connections. I have used Guy Auto Electrics recently and so far am favourably impressed.
I know XE cooling flow path is a bit of an old chestnut but in browsing the ATPower throttle body web site their technical drawing for the XE bodies shows the two water outlets at the front of the inlet side of the head to be combined in to one chamber on the TB flange with one outlet pipe. In many other cases these are separate with the top outlet being treated as primarily an air bleed to be T'd with the rad bleed to the expansion tank and the lower outlet connected to the submarine pipe as part of the main cooling flow. I know the two outlets are in fact partially connected by a small channel in the gasket as standard. Does it seem reasonable to combine these two completley and if so to where is the single outlet best connected? AT say 'we have engineers' and the design would have been guided by engine builders/race teams.......
Thanks, the trouble is that most of them just chuck the standard springs in the bin in favour of monster muscle, which as tuners is what you'd expect, the weedy originals in new form seem to be increasingly rare although I have now found a couple of sources. Not cheap though......
