  1. Swisscat, if you search the archives on "BEC and reliability" or "blackbird and reliability" you'll probably find all you need. General consensus seems to be that if the oiling system is properly designed you'll be OK. Won't you have problems registering a bike engined car in CH?
  2. If you can't find any here try machine mart; they seem to be the cheapest around.
  3. Hi Tony, I think arch already does a diagonal similar to what you mention. For better or worse, some of the bike-engined cars do without one or the other diagonal and that doesn't seem to have caused any problems. Hope all heals speedily. Felix
  4. From me Haynes manual - 1988cc.
  5. Most hand cleaners will remove tree sap. Try one (without pumice/grit!) on an inconspicuous area to ensure it doesn't harm the leather first. Shouldn't be a problem on the paintwork but you'll almost certainly need to wax it afterward.
  6. Make sure your battery connections are clean and tight. If you can move/twist them take them off and clean them carefully with a wire brush. You also need to make sure that the alternator connections are secure. I think some cars are wired such that the positive supply to the car goes from the battery to the alternator and then to the rest of the car. So if either wire doesn't make a secure connection at the alternator you car may well exhibit strange electrical problems.
  7. Assuming the 2nd driver isn't a club member they can get a one day membership for £25 to allow them to drive. If they're a club member then you can share the session. In either case the 2nd driver must sign all the same paperwork and attend the mandatory drivers briefing.
  8. They appear to measure 29.5 cm from the centre of the banjo fitting to the tip of the end of the male taper fitting.
  9. Dan, yhm. Grant, my e-mails to you bounce with "user unknown". I'm afraid I sold the upper wishbones some time back.
  10. Traditionally the first 7 club track day of the season is the Tuesday after the first May bank holiday and is at Cadwell Park. Most tracks won't take booking for the coming season until the FIA calendar is determined which is usually October or so.
  11. Another overlooked factor is corrosion in the braking system. I know of people who have never had to take their brakes apart in 20 and 30 year old cars but have changed the fluid with regularity. That prevents the seized pistons that seem to occur around the 6 to 8 year mark in many cars. An ounce of prevention...
  12. Had my Zetec that way for 6 years and countless track days without a problem. Never entered the kitty litter at speed though!
  13. I have a set; they're the slightly newer ones that have an extra piece of tubing connecting the legs just outboard of where they mount to the chassis. How does £50 for the pair sound? New price from Caterham is over £100 plus VAT *each*. I'm located in south Hants; UK shipping is probably £6 or so.
  14. Race Technology has one as well here for a bit less money. I've used one for a couple of years with no problems.
  15. here's one for £22.99. Maplin has one for £14.99; go to www.maplin.co.uk and search for item N44AJ. Not sure if either of these will actually shut off if no charging is required or perhaps their input is too low to need that. Edited by - felix.klauser on 19 Aug 2003 11:05:05
