  1. It's probably running on only 3 or even 2 cylinders. Check which exhaust ports remains cold and check respective ignition (probable) and injection (improbable) wiring. -Marin
  2. bugger, been meaning to post this in chit chat...
  3. After playing too much Gran Turismo 4 I've been lusting after a car with the above drivetrain layout. But - are there any, beyond the impossible to find 205 T16 and the usual impractical supercars? Any kitcars maybe? -marin
  4. Anyone know of a limit? I'm considering running one on my Zetec which might make up to 210 hp at some point, will this kill the Quaife ATB? I won't go kerb hopping, mostly fast-ish alpine touring here. -Marin Edited by - kandyman on 1 Feb 2005 16:34:08

Some number on you tires tells you how old they are. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than my will be along shortly to tell you. Alternatively, I'm sure you can Google for it. -Marin
  6. Differences in "engine feel" felt "from the driver's seat" are due to mapping and intake / exhaust configration, not the quality of the engine.
  7. Why not make it from ally sheet? If you're not running boost, the box wont be pressurised, and doesn't even have to be 100% airtight. -Marin
  8. There are 22 possible reasons for behavior like this in a Zetec. The bad idle guide here has them all. -Marin
  9. Are you sure you don't want to go to an aftermarket ECU? AFAIK there are some on which you can dedicate an output channel to VVT or suchlike. Would be a shame to have the ECU running in limp-home mode all the time just cos it can't find the EGR valve or the power steering fast idle switch... BTW; aren't Lotus running that Engine in the Elise? Might be worth checking what they are doing. -Marin
  10. I use mountainbike brake cables for throttle. Clutch needs something stronger though.
  11. Studs are useless on snow or dry and wet roads, they only help on black ice or snow turned to ice (BTW, I live in Austria where we are basically forced, by insurers and the climate, to run winter tires October to April). So get some decent winter tires and enjoy the squealing and the smooth drifts you can usually make with them :) Where do you carry the skis? -Marin
  12. If the motor is ok, you could set your rev limit to 11k!
  13. Peter - I don't understand, didn't the engine already make 273 bhp @ 7.5k revs? -Marin
  14. Bhp/litre is a very intersting figure, but aren't bhp/kg and bhp/£££ even more relevant in the end? However, 270+ bhp seems very healthy indeed. -Marin
  15. Bill, please keep reason and common sense out of the CF threads. Cheers, Marin
