  1. Could be head gasket. Mine had a tiny break in a fire ring which allowed pressurised the cooling system giving the coolant being forced out symptom you have. Fine in gentle road use but couldn't handle track levels of performance. Could get about 2/3 of a lap of nurburgring before it would start blowing past header tank cap.
  2. Took me about 25 hours to strip down to bare frame , thats everything removed including dash , all wiring , brake pipes etc. Drilled out rivits and re-using all ali panels except rear which was accident damaged.
  3. I fitted a full kit (Meteor supplied) to the rear of ny 97 supersport last yera with no problems, can't recall numers but everything fitted correctly
  4. Simpson hybrid sport for me at the show today , quite new in the UK , noticeably lighter than the original (not quite carbon light but near half the price). They are still costly compared to traditional HANS which are coming down with greater choice but I found much more comfortable and no need to worry about angle or repositioning belt fastenings on seven. Also give a degree of side movement protection which original device doesn't offer.
  5. Used a dremel with a small grinder head to cut a slot and then chisel to collapse bearing in on itself - still slow but about half the time yours took.
  6. No problems at all in the 50 odd laps I've done which includes some pretty attacking entry and exits when i was on a good lap. Wouldn't dream of the outside route.
  7. I have fitted the powerlite to my k but I had to reposition the front plate to clear my exhaust (4 into 1 with external collector) and it still only clears by about 2 mm. Despite that it has been fine for last couple of years including trackdays and racing so getting pretty hot.
  8. Sounds like throttle position sensor to me.
  9. Hi All I am looking to increase the negative camber slightly prior to some track time , question is can I just take a couple of turns off the top wishbone ball joint or will i also have to adjust tracking. This is only intended as a short term effort at getting a better corner turn in prior to a full flat floor set up. Cheers Dave
  10. I have switched to the Powerlite but had to modify to get it to clear the exhaust ( i have a 4 into 1 sytem with the collector outside the engine bay). Clearance is still fractional but even after 40 minute race heat there is no starting problem. Edited by - tin duck dave on 24 May 2014 20:19:27
  11. 3/8 socket and wobble bar extension to help. Essential to be really square on the bolt head and hold it square when applying force or socket will jump off head.
  12. I was recomended to use Comma G48 green by Dave Andrews for my K series which would back up your coolant colour.
  13. standard Caterham instruments , working fine when last driven but that was several months ago. Battery 11.9 volts before staring but showing 13.8 when running. Have fitted a new switch for rear rain light using feed to screen washer switch which is no longer required but cannot see why that would be causing fault.
  14. Hi All Just started engine after back end repairs and running fine but electrical instruments (rev counterv , oil pressure gauge etc) are indicating about half of what they should Ie rev counter only showing 3000 rpm at full revs. First thoughts are a bad earth to look for but are there any other things I should be checking. Cheers Dave
  15. Quoting Midlifecrisis2001: Hi Dave, thanks but I can't seem to find your email in any of my in-boxes. May i ask you to resend please to midlifecrisis2001@hotmail.com assuming I'm allowed to put addresses in a thread..? E-mail sent.
  16. Quoting Midlifecrisis2001: Just wondering if you still have the Petty strut for sale? thanks Clive YHM
  17. Had very similar symptoms from a tiny failure on head gasket sealing ring by one cylinder - just pressurised expansion tank when worked hard on trackdays but fine in normal road use.
  18. If you do end up deciding it is a starter you need I have fitted one of these and so far no problems even on restarts after track work and I have been very happy with it. Only point to consider is clearance on exhaust , body is bigger than magnetron type and with my exhaust I had to turn the body on the mounting plate which meant drilling new holes but other exhaust variants are fine to bolt straight on.
  19. Quoting susser: I'll have the screen please, if I may. I'm in Carrotland so a GONAD or post would be a favourite delivery method. Frustratingly; I'm in Pembrokeshire this week. I don't suppose that's of any help is it ? (My transport is a thirsty motorhome) Edited by - susser on 29 Aug 2013 11:42:13 YHM
