  1. This is a very dodgy post with a lot helmet polishing going on
  2. Hi, I am not happy with my oil pressure gauge so planning to switch to a mechanical sender and gauge. Burton do a GAUGE and matching PIPE The question is what do I need as an adapter into the block.
  3. is it just one side or both? I had an intermittent problem with RH indicator and it turned out to be the switch that was the problem. If it is one side I suggest swapping the terminals on the switch to see if the issue swaps sides
  4. yes please Madmalc that could be interesting, thanks
  5. Electric steering assist if not full steer by wire is teh way thaings are going. I have it on my Qashqai and it raises a serious question. If the engine is not running you get NO power assist and you really cannot turn the wheel without an enormous effort. So what happens if you need to tow the car or even just push it to the side of the road?
  6. Right I know that oil everywhere is part and parcel of being a XFlow owner but there must be a more elegant solution to engine breather system. I do not want to go to a dry sump but what other solutions are there? My current system has a sort of washer bottle sitting above the battery, with a pipe from the crankcase just next to the fuel pump going into it and a pipe coming oiut that points down to the road.
  7. Hi I need to top my geqrbox qfter hqving the engine out to do a clutch change. The gearbox is a 4 speed on a crossflow so I guess it is a Type 9? So what spec of oil do I need and how much I should have checked while the engine was out but I fogot so does anyone know if the plug is a hex or do I need a special tool?
  8. Not sure I have the correct calibration of the seat of my pants to pick up that difference.
  9. All parts arrived and started the assembly process. Can anyone please confirm the correct Torque Setting for teh bolts holding the clutch housing to the flywheel. From what I have seen it looks like about 20Nm. Is that about right?
  10. Thanks for the responses guys. Had a quick chat with John at Redline who told me to lever the CRB off the arm with a couple of big screwdrivers behind the two tangs top and bottom. Job done
  11. Thanks Bob that was going to be my next tack but wasn't sure if it was screw or an interference fit,
  12. PLenty of clearance it just does not wamnt to move off the pin /sites/default/files/images/users/2053/IMG_0011.JPGPl
  13. ok so I found the bush, more like a thick rubber band, that will need to be replaced as I split it on removal. The arm will still NOT come off. I really do not want tto break it but I have given it quite push with a big lever.. Is it best to have the arm fully back or fully forward
  14. So just had another go at it. Pulling the arm forward, the arm will not go far enough for the bearing to come off the shatft. I cannt slide the arm out as it is caught on the pivot pin or do I force it.?
  15. I did try that but it would not go easily i will have another go giving it a bit more oomph. Thanks
  16. as per other thread engine is out and gearbox is split. I cant see how to get the clutch arm off. I can see it pivots at one end and i expected that be a bolt but it is not obvious The answer is: Had a quick chat with John at Redline who told me to lever the CRB off the arm with a couple of big screwdrivers behind the two tangs top and bottom. Clutch problem?

After a good attempt i finally had to go for engine and box out together. I just could not get the block far enough forward to split it. I did manage to flood the garage with gbox oil. How are you supposed to get the gbox mount nuts undone, what a PITA. problem with clutch appears to be one of the springs became dislodged and was scraping the finger springs not really looking forward to the refitting exercise.

    Clutch problem?

Thanks, I am beginning to think it will be easiest to get the whole thing out. Next problem is the ever increasing list of jobs I should do while the engine is out.
  20. As per my clutch problem posting i am stripping the engine ready for removal. the alternator appears to be french as in there is a sticker which starts FRA. 2 bolts at the bottom and one at the top on the adjuster. Due to inteference the adjuster slot is on the block side
