  1. Right, popped home at lunch and took a couple of shots of my heater (still in the car, but unbolted). When I removed it, parts of the heater casing fell off. From closer inspection there are cracks all over it - photos here I've got a feeling if I start to try and dismantle it, I'll end up with a pile of broken plastic. It's worth a go though, to save £180ish. The large hole in the bottom is a bit of a worry though! No wonder it was warmer on the passenger side. S7UPL (it's a SUPerLight 7...)
  2. Thanks for the photos Shad, I was just about to order a heater from CC this morning, I'll hold off until I've fully dismantled mine, which I expect will be this evening. Not sure how I'm going to dea with the fact that the heater box is falling to bits though, I'll post some photos tonight. On another note, I like the irony that yours has a sticker with "LEAK TESTED" written on it. "Yep, we've tested it, it leaks". Chris S7UPL (it's a SUPerLight 7...)
  3. Shad, that's right - 4 screws and the unit is out. Take a kitchen roll out with you, mine was full of coolant and it dumped the lot instantly... Thanks for the link grubster! very useful. I've not managed to get to the matrix itself, how do you get into the heater to get at the matrix? The unit I have is cracked and falling to bits and that's before I start popping the plastic rivets off so I may end up having to buy the whole unit (£250 )...unless there's a simple way to do it? Thanks again! S7UPL (it's a SUPerLight 7...) Edited by - Chris Whitten on 25 Nov 2007 23:14:35
  4. OK, I've taken the heater out to have a look at it. None of the pipes leading in to it are leaking. The unit itself is cracked and when I removed it there was a section that fell away altogether which fluid poured out of. It appears to be a sealed unit so there's no way to get to the source of the leak (as far as I can tell??). I think (unless I'm missing something!!) that my only option is to get a new heater. 5. Thanks chaps, will get on this tomorrow. Thanks for the 'turn off heater valve' tip! Cheers Chris S7UPL (it's a SUPerLight 7...)
  6. I've just pulled it out of the garage and as I pushed it forward I noticed liquid (now confirmed as coolant) leaking into the passenger footwell, then moments after into the drivers side as well from what looked like the heater. The engine wasn't running at the time. A little while back I had an issue with brake fluid leaking from the reservoir and I've now changed to a race style cap however I think that brake fluid may well be a conributory factor in 'something' leaking after being decayed. I'm going to take it appart this afternoon, my question is has anyone had this happen before and what is it likely to be? Thanks in advance. (at least it didn't happen on my Cadence course yesterday!!) Chris S7UPL (it's a SUPerLight 7...)
  7. I saw you just at the right time, I was taking 2 Taiwanese chaps (suppliers to my company) to a meeting and was discussing that I had a weekend car. I was trying to describe what it looked like and you appeared right on cue!!! 😬 😬 S7UPL (it's a SUPerLight 7...) Edited as I can't spell.... Edited by - chris whitten on 23 Oct 2007 16:28:31
  8. Surely you'd get more out of TB's than an 4-2-1 exhaust? Ed kindly sent me a link to this a few days after I'd paid a very similar amount for a new sofa 😔 S7UPL (it's a SUPerLight 7...)
  9. I have a double??? S7UPL (it's a SUPerLight 7...)
  10. Not sure if it helps but I have a Superlight with a K series 1.6ss with a standard exhaust and it measured at a mere 94Db at 4500 RMP yesterday. S7UPL (it's a SUPerLight 7...)
  11. Certainly was - I was pretty sure that was you too, now confirmed! I'd just done a loop around the Waddeston to Long Crendon road and then from Long Crendon out towards Bicester past Oakley / Brill etc and was on my way back. Really good run, very little traffic. 2 cars even pulled over to let me by which doesn't happen often! S7UPL (it's a SUPerLight 7...)
  12. Spotted by SWMBO, didn't get plate but apparently it's a sticker plate across the nose cone. Not a cloud in the sky here, fantastic evening for it! (I wish I was out in mine...) S7UPL (it's a SUPerLight 7...)
  13. This is a long shot.... Does anyone know anyone who can help with checking an ECU for a TVR Tuscan Red Rose in the BUCKS area? (Not TVR Henley as apparently they charge too much!! 😳). This is for a friend who has fitted a 302 Ford V8 into his Tuscan which is now up and running, however there are a couple of things that the ECU is not doing which it should do, namely activating the rad fan when it starts to overheat Many thanks Chris (on behalf of Graham 'one day I'll get this bl00dy thing back on the road again!!' ) S7UPL (it's a SUPerLight 7...)
  14. I had 32's on the front and 48's on the rear for a few months (whilst the wear on the 32's caught up). I didn't notice too much difference, although I wasn't an a track for that period of time. S7UPL (it's a SUPerLight 7...)
  15. Pretty sure that it was Glen I saw in his red aero'd 7. Nice evening for it S7UPL (it's a SUPerLight 7...)
  16. Posting on behalf of a friend, Does anyone know of a bespoke belt manufacturer, ideally near High Wycombe or in Bucks? The application is a Ford 302 V8 which now sits in a TVR Tuscan, however to fit the engine in he's had to use a modified alternator and now needs a custom belt. Car has been off the road for nearly 20 months since the Speed 6 went bang, I think this is one of the final jobs. Thanks S7UPL (it's a SUPerLight 7...)
  17. I had a Fix It Again Tomorrow Coupe 20v Tubo a few years back, the only thing that ever broke on it was a gear linkage, the engine was pretty reliable and I did about 40,000 miles in it (sold it at 68k before the BIG service). I recon Manxseven is probably onto something here.... S7UPL (it's a SUPerLight 7...)
  18. Cheers Darren, will try that tonight - just to be 100% sure. Simon....do you fancy adopting a dog? I don't even want to think about how much a new seat belt is going to cost....having BMW written on it is bound to add a few £'s Edited by - Chris Whitten on 3 Jul 2007 10:49:24
  19. Must be the oil sender, good diagnosis guys. Cleaned up the connection on the sender. That didn't resolve it. Took the hose off the top of the anti-cav tank and started the engine and I'm getting oil pumped through. New sender it is... Chris S7UPL (it's a SUPerLight 7...)
  20. Thanks chaps. Didn't get a chance to look this up again yesterday. I'll try and get my head under it tonight and see what's what. Cheers, Chris S7UPL (it's a SUPerLight 7...)
  21. cheers chaps, will go and get my head under it. Maick - I may buy a lottery ticket this evening! S7UPL (it's a SUPerLight 7...)
  22. Engine temp went up to normal, about half way, so that appeared to be working. I didn't hear any unusual noises. Not used it for 2 weeks, its been in the garage so nothing has changed I was going to go to the Penn 7's meet today in it, however I decided that based onthe lack of oil pressure reading, driving it until I'd sorted it would be a bad idea. Is the oil sender located somewhere behind the oil filter? one thing I did notice this morning that on the ant cav tank there is a connector half way up with nothing attached to it.... not sure if there shoud be! 23. Started the car up this morning for the first time in two weeks after getting back from Le mans. My plan was to check the oil level, so I let it warm up for 5 - 10 minutes. When I came back to it I realised that the dial was not moving. I tried blipping the throttle to see if that moved it - still no movement. I then put my hand on the Anti-Cav tank and it was still cold, also when I looked in the top of the engine via the oil filler cap and it didn't look like any oil had been pumped through. Does anyone have any ideas what the problem could be? My anti-cav tank has a one way valve fitted to it between the tank and the rocker cover but I don't think this would be an issue. Help!!!! (1.6K series SS) S7UPL (it's a SUPerLight 7...)
  24. Spotted by SWMBO this morning on the A40. All she could see was that it was yellow as you were going the otherm way.
  25. Hi Mark, no didn't get your BM? mail address is c.whitten@displaze.com if you want to try again.. Did you get mine? Chris S7UPL (it's a SUPerLight 7...) - Le Mans 07 Car no:41
