  1. I spoke with the race team setting up my car who seemed to think Nova tyres were imminent - perhaps from speaking with optimistic people at Caterham. It's also what I've heard 'around' - likely just the same news being perpetuated in the 'paddock'. However, I don't believe it. Setting up a new facility for commercial tyre production so quickly? Nah. Unless someone can point me to a production facility ready to go, I'd guess production was at least 12 months away with a strong chance of not at all, or they do get to start up then close quickly with production/market issues. I want them to start up quickly and produce tyres that most of us want, and I'll be happy to eat my hat!
  2. Thank you all very much. I've had a squiz through and it's nice to know that I'm not alone in my travails, although clearly need to up my site search game! I'll get out to the garage tomorrow night and ponder my options - remove them sounds like the easiest, but we'll see... I'll probably end up with some two-part epoxy and a washer. I owe it to you all to let you know what I eventually do anyway! 😄 Again, thank you!
  3. They look like tyres for 6" front and 8" rears so I'm interested if Stu doesn't want them. (Can collect)
  4. Hello! I've a new 420 - the Dzus fasteners at the bottom of the nose cone are a right pain to do up. They're tricky to locate, very stiff and make the nose cone a pain to take off and put back. Of course, the dry sump is under the nose... ergo checking the oil is also a pain... I'm sure I saw someone here fitted wing head dzus fasteners but search hasn't thrown anything up. Any good reason why I wouldn't do this, or that people haven't? For those that have, can I just replace the dzus bolt with a dzus winged bolt - or do I need to remove the whole thing - and what size? I'm not expecting others to get their knees and check and measure - but if someone's done it already it would be helpful to know 😊 .
  5. Cheers James. I didn't think of just the clamp 👍. In the end it needed a bit of both but should be okay - there's some clearance now. I need to give it all a bit of running now and I'll no doubt need to make more adjustments to the pedals at least. Let's see if I can get off the drive....
  6. Just when I thought I finished the job. Checked everything three times, and was just about to go on a slow test drive round the block... the car wouldn't steer more than a quarter turn left 🙈. The joint on the steering rack is fouled by the newly angled master cyclinder! Looks like I'm going I have adjust the steering wheel. If all else fails I could try going back to the old pedal but I've chopped the clutch bolt down so I don't think that would work. Is it just me or have others encountered this problem?!
  7. Started the fitment this evening. Dry fitted both shims and found I need longer bolts as the bolts need to fit through the shim as well as the master cylinder and the nut - ordered 45mm to replace the 30mm and a selection of split pins for the rod connection. I cut a small section out of the shim closest to the cylinder to get it over the rod. I will also need to bring the brake/clutch forward to the position closest to the driver as the shim has pushed the pedal down to level with the accelerator. I was on max adjustment on the rod anyway so that should be okay... The brake pipes that were screwed to the top of the pedal box no longer will be... okay to leave them loose or are they at risk of vibration damage or similar? Not sure I could safely manipulate them back into their old position. Anything else I need to think about/do? Assuming all works out I'll post pics and some notes, as a full guide to fitting these is nowhere to be found!
  8. Just installed one of John's too 👌. Well out the way of the aeroscreen centre.
  9. Indy on 6th June and GP with the club on the 27th June 👍.
  10. Hi all I'm at Bedford on Monday 13th May with MSV. I've booked a garage and am happy to share it (no cost) - they're big enough for more than one Caterham if memory serves me correctly! If you're going, and it'd be useful, let me know. David
  11. The studs the wheels mount, which I/we then tighten up the nuts on.
  12. That was (and is!) my plan BigCol - at least with the master key. 👍 I ordered the new key from CC before my car was delivered - of course my new car wasn't compatible with the new key 🤣 .
  13. I took the wheels off my (new) car at the weekend and noticed the bolts had been greased - must have been by CC. I thought this was a no-no given how it can skew torque measurements. Anyone else noticed this on a recent CC build?
  14. Is it this? https://caterhamparts.co.uk/master-cylinder/914-brake-master-cylinder-cap-race-no-float-switch.html If so, then it's the race cap (as Wrightpayne said above). It does away with the low fluid warning lights, but doesn't leak (apparently!).
  15. Thanks Guy. It's always the way - keys are like buses 😄.
  16. Perfect, thanks Matt. I've just ordered from Ebay!
  17. Looking for a spare key. My car is a 2024 model but looks like it came with an old key - see picture below. I ordered a key from CC but it's this one https://caterhamparts.co.uk/battery-cut-off-kits/1338-battery-master-switch-key.html which although vaguely fits once I knocked the pin through, doesn't activate the electrics - and why should it if it's a different key! I'm surprised my car has an old key but there you go! Once I find the incorrect spare, I'm happy to post it out to someone at no cost - I'll put it in the 'for sale' section. Not looking for a freebie here, just looking for direction of where I can buy a (correct!) spare. SBFS are out of stock sadly (have been for a while) and I've not seen one anywhere else. Thanks David
  18. I think the four pot calipers come in black with white 'Caterham' lettering.
  19. Hi James I was advised by CC to buy two shims, and I have - any chance of some pics of your installation, and/or advice on doing the job? Or anyone else for that matter! I'm sure it should be simple, but... Thanks
  20. Don't DPR's Spa mirrors come with their adjustment bolt conversion hence more expensive?
  21. Not just me then... I used to wince when jacking my Academy car up via the tow loop. It was the accepted method but it didn't feel right, watching the chassis twist. I'll be using the front cruciform with my new car!
  22. Hi, I picked up my car yesterday and had a quick look at fitting my Caterham half-hood. Of course, I've got no instructions with mine 🤪. However I found this thread on BC which has a pdf half way down: It sounds like you have worked it out but here is a fitting guide that I didn't have: Caterham Half Hood Fitting Guide.pdf I'm linking it here in case it's of use to anyone who comes across this thread. I'll have a go soon, but I'm waiting for a rainy day 😁.
  23. Not from personal experience, but in researching half-hoods, I read that some people stuck felt material on the underside of the hood, rather than putting something on the roll-bar.
  24. Hi all Bought in 2008 and used until a 2019 house move. I've been holding onto them, but don't have a use for them sadly. All in original boxes. Speakers in walnut, and all with covers. Lots of speaker wire (silver XT + gold plated connectors FWIW!). Links to the items below. I can unbox and take pictures for anyone interested and am happy to answer any questions. I'm keen they all go to a good home so say, £400 (or near offer for a good home) for the amp all the speakers - that's an average of £57 each for each speaker and the amp! Collection from CM14 postcode. https://tealondon.co.uk/monitor-audio-br5/ (Walnut) https://www.monitoraudio.com/en/support/past-products/bronze-br/brlcr/ https://www.monitoraudio.com/en/support/past-products/bronze-br/brw10/ https://www.monitoraudio.com/en/support/past-products/bronze-br/br5/ https://www.monitoraudio.com/en/support/past-products/bronze-br/brfx/

    Rust!

I agree. People cut Caterham too much slack. This is 2023, they're not a cute British cottage industry they're a company charging an 'arm and a leg' for their product, selling internationally, and one might expect it to withstand some weather for a couple of years. While their front-end is quite shiny, their back-office and customer service haven't moved forward (perhaps even backwards) and leaves a lot to be desired in this day and age.
