  1. 7 Workshop don't do the copper gaskets anymore
  2. Just want to be sure I'm checking the oil level correctly... Should the oil level be just above the baffle plate in the dry sump tank when running, but below the plate when not running?
  3. My 7 is in bare alloy with black nose, wheel centres and wings.. I like the alloy/black combo but think a spash more black would freshen it up. Thinking of just painting the bonnet, leaving the scuttle and the rest of the body in alloy. Can't find a pic of any 7's with painted bonnets and alloy scuttle/body, is there a good reason for that - i.e. it will look naff! Opinions and suggestions welcome!
  4. How much did they come to?
  5. Personally I'd go carbon next time, I was expecting the stainless to be a bit more robust, after just a few miles they are peppered already.. Or i'd put paint protection film on the protectors - is that just wrong? 😬
  6. Did mine recently, I'd certainly advise spending time carefully bending them to fit the wings profile perfectly before starting to rivet, puts less strain on the rivets and they will seat down nice and flush..
  7. That is just sooooo wrong! 😬

I'm interested in the bonnet if it's crossflow typre with carb holes and heater vent, you have BM...
  10. I looked at the Vic ones, then decided to go with new CC parts as these came pre-drilled, which I thought would make the swap easier... .. but most of the holes didn't line up with my original wings anyway, so I had to drill a load more! That said, the finish on the CC wings is very good, not seen the Vic ones in the flesh.
  11. I reparied the many cracks in my fronts with gell coat filler, you can get it in tubes, worked really well. Also put a bit of P40/fibreglass on the inside behind the worse damage. Dremmelled the cracks out first, going right through the gell coat, filled & sanded. Gellcoat filler sands really well, didn't need to use any futher fillers. Scotchbrited the whole wing, used standard grey primer followed by a couple of rattle cans, looks great!
  12. Not keen on pre-drilled unless I know they will line up with the holes from the OE CC stainless jobbies.. so if carbon bits do non-drilled and they are same size as OE that's probably best option I guess.. Edited by - bryno on 26 Aug 2010 21:28:34
  13. Planning on changing the stainless wing protectors to CC carbon ones ('94 S3). Can anyone who has done this confirm if the rivet holes in the carbon ones line up with the originals?.. i'm not keen on having to fill the wings with more holes if they don't line up properly. thanks
  14. I spent yesterday applying Dynamat to the tunnel, supposed to be good at reducing cabin heat as well as sound insulation..
