  1. Nice spot GJT! Best I've seen recently is this Escalade. Very clearly not built for the European roads...
  2. Just to give people a flavour of when we might be looking at going, 2023 dates are likely to be announced soon. In 2022, Destination Nürburgring had the following dates: 9 May 11 & 12 July 19 & 20 SepCircuit days had the following dates: 19 & 20 Apr 22 July 14 Oct
  3. Make sure you come back and let us all know how you get on (please )! And what the car is like with the power increase!
  4. Remember, lots of power on narrow, not-super-sticky rubber will produce more fun than the inverse. Depends on if you're planning to use the car all winter, and/or if you're going to be doing lots of trackdays. Then changing the wheels & tyres accordingly would make sense.
  5. I've just fitted a set of Hankook "Winter i*cept RS W442 SP" to give them their full title. See more in my thread here
  6. I haven't any other experience, but I run 13 x 8" rears on a Sigma 140 with ZZRs. Never lacking in grip, that's for sure.
  7. Yup, also very interested in this. Winter tyres going on this week, so need to make sure the car is protected!
  8. Welcome. Looking forward to seeing some pictures when the car arrives!
  9. Anyone for a Trabant? "Doors" more flimsy than even a Caterhams!
  10. I couldn't point you to any policy on the subject, but I towed a car across France and Belgium to the Nürburgring in April 2022 without trouble.
  11. Wow, what an opportunity! In situations like that, i like to reassure myself that the bulk of the profit would have been taken in storage and maintenance costs over the years.
  12. I was on holiday in Italy a week ago. Whilst enjoying a gelato overlooking the lake, waiting for the ferry across Lake Como from Varenna to Bellagio I spotted a classic Aston Martin and an old Ferrari. I abandoned my wife and baby to go and take a closer look where upon I see a Swiss plated RHD Aston DB6 in a lovely red colour parked next to a convertible Ferrari. Initially, I wasn't sure what model it was. I thought it might have been a 250, but surely nobody would be out actually driving a 250?! But when it was started up I noticed it sounded like a V12 and at that point I did a quick search only to discover it was in fact a Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder SWB, one of 55 made and worth in excess of $15 million...
  13. Both look like decent circuits, particularly the new RMM with the elevation changes!
  14. That's pretty much all MSV circuits, but I don't know what the policy at Blyton is.
  15. The spare I have bought came from eBay. I'll get the calipers out later to check the difference in measurement and so I know what i'm looking for when I buy a replacement. Thanks for your input folks.
  16. Spotted this last night, first time i've ever seen a Mk1 on the road:
  17. Interesting. The SBFS page notes that the shaft is a different diameter from old style to new, but that the pin is also different. It seems like the key I have bought has the old style pin, but perhaps the new style shaft diameter. That's frustrating. I might have a go with the sandpaper and see if I can "machine" down the diameter, otherwise it'll be a replacement. Seeing that many customers are very unhappy with lead times from SBFS, are they likely to be any quicker when this isn't an item they're making themselves (I assume)?
  18. I did have a look through the site but couldn't see anything on the key specifically.
  19. Hello folks. I recently bought an FIA battery master key to keep as a spare, but when I went to test it, it appears that the diameter of the barrel that inserts into the car is ever so slightly too wide. Is the battery master key a standard size on the Caterham and have I got a dodgy (cheap) key, or is the key on the Caterham a facy size and I only bought a regular? Thanks in advance. Pic for comparison:
  20. Love the XJS. I very nearly bought a V12 coupe back in 2013 (great condition, low miles, £1,500) but ended up with an XJ instead. Thought the straight 6 would be more reliable, but alas that car was riddled with electrical gremlins and I got rid 4 months later.
  21. TF get's a bad rep from crash compilation videos (that the Nürburgring now does well to keep off YouTube). It really needn't be that scary and the stereotypical GT3 coming past 100kph faster, they're not the cars to worry about. The drivers of those car normally know what they're doing. As long as one remains aware of their surroundings, keeps an eye on the mirrors, and remembers that German road rules apply, everything really will be fine. To relieve the nerves, as others have said, driving the track on a game will help enormously. Knowing where the track goes is half the battle and watching on-board videos will do that if gaming isn't your thing. I'd highly recommend Misha Charoudin on Youtube, here's a great recent video of his about
  22. Depends on how it works out, but Spa and Zandvoort are the wrong side of the Ring for me, so i'll likely just aim for the Nürburgring.
  23. Thanks James, that's really helpful. I had been looking at the sizes but it's not easy to imagine, so pics are super helpful. Edit: replying to #12, not #14
  24. I bought my car with ZZRs all round (6" & 8") but will be changing to AR1s I suspect when the time comes. I've used them on my Fiesta track car and really like them. I'll be changing to a subtly different tyre size, as you point out, you can't get anything else in the same size as the ZZRs. My only query is to go 235/45/13 or 205/60/13. In theory, both will fit an 8" wheel... @Aerobod, could you post a pic of your 235/45 please? Would like to see how it sits on the wheel rim.
