  1. Hi,

One of my jobs for this / next weekend (depending on when I get round to it) is fitting a carbon dash.

My car (2013 S3) wasn't a self build so I haven't done much tinkering in those parts. I'm a bit nervous about drilling out the scuttle rivets (wisdom seems to be to replace with rivnuts?). Also how easy is it to remove the dials and refit them?

If anyone has a guide with photos that would be greatly appreciated.

    TIA.

  2. The article above is really helpful and I followed it when I replaced my standard roll bar with a FIA 'X' Roll bar (2013 S3 chassis). I thought i would need to change my boot cover although it turns out that I didn't. I did need a new half hood though - the distance to the front windscreen is slightly shorter (by about 3 cm) on the FIA bar as it slopes forward a bit.

I've also noticed that for the same reason the bar is more pushed up against my headrest (I have leather seats). Don't know how it would be with composites.

  3. Hi,

Due to a change in my roll-bar to FIA I have a standard half-hood which is surplus to requirements.

Mohair finish with 'easy in' zips on both sides, it has seen outside (dry) once since bought at the end of last year and has been kept indoors, under a cover ever since.

Measures 85cm from front of windscreen to back of rollbar.

Cost me about £390 new and out of stock at Oxted (plus it is now more expensive when back in stock). I'm looking for about £340 for it and happy to include UK 'signed for postage' at that price.

Blatmail me for any more info or pics.

  4. If you're still searching for a roll bar then I noticed there are some advertised on the Facebook Caterham Marketplace site...Ian Payne @ PT motorsports. Most look to be the standard roll bar, but from the photo it did look like there was at least one with a diagonal cross brace (single, not x style).  Not sure if metric or imperial.
Some other bits like petty struts and intrusion bars available as well.
just thought I'd mention if still looking.

  5. You might be better off trying Caged or Caterham themselves. Second hand are v hard to come by unless someone is upgrading to a cage (look for that mentioned in a post rather than specifically selling it).  I got lucky and now have a standard bar sitting as an ornament, they have pretty much no second hand value.

You could do worse than try one of the track teams - Ian Payne @ PT Sportscars seems to be having a bit of a clear out on some of the FB forums at the moment. He might have something lurking in a back room.

Sure I can't entice you into a spare standard bar, just in case?  Going cheap :)

Welcome to the club too - I'm not too far from you, a bit more central SW Lon.
