  1. Avon ZR3 195/45 R15

Oops, that's strange, in the message that arrived in my inbox it referred to Avon ZR3 195/45R15 and yet here on the site it reads "Avon ZV3 195/45R15" 🤔

I assume you edited it and it must be the latter, I see Avon ZV1 195/50 R15 listed and assume that the ZV3 is the 195/45 R15 version? In any case I would have thought that it is the actual tyre size eg 195/45 x 15 that is the governing factor. The two types of Yokohama 185/60 x 13 tyres at the bottom of the list both have the same input pulse but as I said before you may wish to confirm with CC Service Manager James Gibson

  2. Hi Blue7

I've just sent you a PM

The speedo was replaced just before I got the car, so I wonder if perhaps CC South didn't put the right code in?!?

The se7en is running Avon ZV3 195/45R15 (at least I think that's what I've just read with a torch)

    Hi Mike

Received your email and have sent the 3 pdf files supplied to me by CC. I don't actually see Avon ZR3 195/45 R15 listed but there are Avon CR500 15" 195/45 x 15 and the input pulse is 039751

If you want to be certain just email James Gibson at CC and he will be able to confirm the impulse code.

    Good luck

  3. Like a stopped-clock showing the correct time twice a day, you can also sleep-easy safe in the knowledge that your speedo is perfectly accurate at rest...sticking out tongue smiley

    😬 😬 😬

    Mike

Have you tried re-programming the speedo using the CC input pulse code appropriate to your tyre size? With the ignition off, hold the button down on the display and turn the ignition to the on position. The display will then start to flash and you can enter the code by pushing the button until the relevant digit appears. Leave for a second and it will move to the next digit. It will be off the rear wheel.

The codes according to tyre size are available from CC but if you want me to send them to you send me a pm.

Having said that, my speedo died last year and I had to buy a new one and enter the correct code, which I did and it's more accurate than my previous roadsport but is still very optimistic *wink* Some guys do tinker around with the code by increasing or decreasing by a couple of numbers until it is correct but personally speaking for perfect accuracy I rely upon the the tone of SWMBO's screams 😬 😬

  4. 11.00 am ish today Thursday glorious 12th of August retired couple bought a new bungalow and couldn't believe it when camera team returned to the bungalow low and behold they were driving a 7 which was parked outside the bungalow. He was a retired civil engineer, worked in Libya repairing infrastructure destroyed as a result of actions between Monty and Rommel *eek* Programme was circa 2008 / 2009 I wonder if you are here and still own that 7?

  5. Hi Blue7

Safely back in Cambridge now after a great 'adventure' around Scotland. It was a great trip and I was glad that you managed to get over to meet up.

The next time I am planning to be up north (admittedly not 'Och Aye' north) is Sunday 25th July for the Rippon Classic Car Gathering - you in? (I know a man who can get you a 'free' pass for £3!)

To the rest of the '7x7ners' on 'Scot Blat 2K10' it was great to meet you all. Hopefully see some of you on 25/07.

First time spotted for me - I think maybe I am now an official '7ner' toothy smileyquestion mark

    Hi Phil

"free' pass for £3!)" you didn't spend enough time in Scotland to appreciate that £3 isn'e free *wink*

Sorry can't make Rippon Classic Car Gathering on 25th, I will be in Brum celebrating my best man's 60th. Oddly enough I have been invited to my Uncle's 50th wedding anniversary in Cambridge on 31 July but I wasn't planning to go 'cus they only drink Ribena 😔

I am however planning to go to Woodvale on 7-8 August, I have bought a ticket but not heard anything back from Sam yet.

Great to meet up with you but pity we didn't have more time for a chinwag and some photos but maybe next year.

  6. Not much information there mate but I assume you are having difficulty getting fuel down the filler pipe? If so the culprits are the anti syphon flap plus the new petrol pump nozzles and there is plenty of help and discussion in the archives, take a look

  7. If you riveted the bracket onto the footwell front (like the Assembly Guide says), you might well find that after a while the thin ally stretches and the bracket becomes loose (I did). I ended up drilling out the rivets (not easy in the cramped space) and replacing with bolts and wide washers.

Good advice from John Vine, the rivets will eventually break so best to replace with small bolts as suggested

  8. I thought I would finalise this topic by stating that the problem was a faulty speedometer display and fitting a new speedo cured the problem. I bought a replacement from CC in July but decided not to fit it until we had returned from our tour of Harris / Lewis in the Se7en. On our way to Kyle of Lochalsh the odometer suddenly started working again *eek* it carried on working for around another 7 or 8 days and then disappeared again never to return ☹️ Fitted the replacement a few weeks ago, entered the correct code and now I have a fully operational speedometer again, albeit around 5mph fast, which isn't too bad because my previous Roadsport was around 10 mph fast *rolleyes*

My Se7en was just over warranty by a month or so but CC refunded the cost of the new speedo *thumbup* *thumbup*

  9. Have you tried the computer fix ?

Well I never thought of that, the old reboot trick. I had high hopes of that working but alas all that happens is the dashes appear and then disappear again.

Try hitting the trip switch immediately after turning the igintion on. I saw something similar on my 260 a couple of weeks ago (dashes instead of numbers). I assumed that I had inadvertently entered a set up mode. Switching off and on and pressing the trip switch seemed to clear it. I didn't investigate further.

Gave that a go Steve but still no joy. It is annoying because the car is only just over a year old but I suppose I will just have to email CC tomorrow to see if they know what the problem is and how to resolve it but I guess they will just suggest a new speedo.

  10. The digital odometer reading on my CSR260 has mysteriously disappeared, it was 3,300 and now totally blank. When I switch on and off a series of dashes ------ appear momentarily where the numbers should be but then even they disappear leaving a blank display, not even zeros. Pressing the trip button does nothing. The speedo still works ok, just no total mileage figures?

Any ideas other than a new speedo or the car wants to regain it's youth *confused*

  11. But they do not do a half hood with the zip on section for tall FIA bars - so possibly not for tall cages either.

Whenever I have spoken to Jill or Nick they seem to be willing to make any custom items so long as you provide them with the correct dimensions

Don't know why I'm sitting here, the sun has finally appeared and the 7 is fuelled up and ready to go *cool*

  12. Is the half hood waterproof if the car is parked?

Unlike the CC hood there is a gap at the rear but SB47 now make a Mk3 "Plus" version that has a separate section to cover the area beyond the roll bar for improved weather protection and err ... "overnight security"

  13. Sorry, I was not plugging a half hood although everyone raves about them, more I was trying to say that Softbits would be a good place to go to discuss modifying the existing hood.smiley

I agree with Tim, have a chat with Jill or Nick at SB47 01798 817560, or take a look here they may be able to alter it but I have to say that the half hood is a much superior hood and provides you with a very quick erection 😳

  14. I bought my CSR260 new in April 2007, I did have some early issues but all eventually sorted out by CC. I do get some kangarooing in slow moving traffic but just assume that it is the nature of the beast, it ain't built for slow moving traffic *wink* Another niggle is a tendency to pop and backfire a bit on the over-run when slowing down, but I have discovered that this only happens when I still have the throttle slightly open and taking the foot off the accelerator usually cures it. It can be a bit embarrassing driving through a quiet village though 😳

The change down from 5th to 4th can also be a bit tricky at times and you have to be very careful not to select 2nd instead of 4th *redface*

Suspension and handling is far superior to my previous Roadsport but the most impressive aspect of the car is the awesome acceleration Fewawi and Porth dwivers are usually confined to the boundaries of my rear view mirror 😬 😬 😬

  15. I recently bought the Caterham locking wheel nuts for £25.95. They are made by Mountney and imho not particularly secure but certainly better than just the standard wheel nut. They are an older design and I understand Mountney have a new version similar to the Evo MkV locking nut. Apart from that, the plastic nut cap removal tool snapped on my first attempt to remove a cap and in any case it was really quite ineffective, the only way you can remove the caps is with a mole wrench I did email Zoe in CC Parts Dept. but haven't received a reply *confused*

I emailed Mcgard and Evo re an appropriate locking nut for my car, I received no response from Mcgard but an immediate response from Julian Maddison at Evo, whose email address julian@evoautomotive.co.uk was posted here by CageyH. Julian suggested I send him one of the wheel nuts from my car which I did and by return of post he sent me an Evo kit (plus my standard nut), with a note to return them if they did not fit. The problem is that the standard wheel nut has an open end but the Evo has a closed cap and the concern was that the end of the wheel stud might butt against the cap before it could be fully tightened.

Well the Evo kit fitted perfectly and cost me £38.61 which included P&P plus an additional locking key. The part no. is BGO/E and as far as service goes full marks to Julian at Evo *thumbup* *thumbup* *thumbup* and sadly nil point to Mountney and CC *thumbdown*

  16. I just had a look at the CSR Sump Guard part no. 0105E0004A here The image just shows the bar with a round bracket at each end that looks that looks as if it slides rather than bolts into place. Seems to me to be a good idea to fit one of these, has anyone fitted one and if so how easy is it to fit? I doubt if CC supply fitting instructions *rolleyes*

There is a "V" shaped part of the chassis that protrudes down below the level of the sump but at the rear of the sump ... which does provide some protection when reversing at high speed 😬

  17. The trouble with locking wheel nuts on a 7 is that you have to hide the adaptor key somewhere on the car where the thief might not think of looking unless of course you attach it to your key ring 😳

What often used to worry me was parking my 7 somewhere and returning to find that some toe-rag had nicked my Momo QR steering wheel

  18. Thanks for the replies, some interesting points made that have been enough to make me think again about that wireless cam, in particular film quality but most of all the wind noise problem and battery life. I have spent most of the day going round in circles looking at various sites and keep coming back to dogcam here Pack2 is expensive but there is an option to hard wire or take power from the cig lighter and just one connection between recorder and cam.

Thanks, it's always worthwhile posting here because someone always comes up a little nugget that you haven't considered and a bonus discovering Angus & Tessa site, a great source of information and I can't believe he got all that equipment in his se7en without leaving Tessa behind *wink*
