  1. That sounds remarkably similar to my experience with Caterham! It's almost like a conspiracy!
  2. Did you manage to do any better than me and get an answer to the question JV?
  3. Did you manage to do any better than me and get an answer to the question JV?
  4. I'll be watching this like a hawk now JV is on the case for a reluctor ring, as I want one too!
  5. Hi Jonathan Its a Ford box with the caerbont programmable speedo, you gave me some help with it when I bought the car, but unfortunately I had to shelve my plans for retrofitting something due to a house move and putting the car in storage (and a pesky virus!) My car has driveshafts without reluctor rings, and I made several enquiries to CC to see if I could get one and retro fit, to no avail. I've bought a sensor, and one of my winter projects is a bracket to pick up the hub bolts at the front wheel. Apologies for the derailment OP!
  6. I tried and tried to get an answer from CC about who supplies the reluctor rings, as my car doesn't have one and I wanted to fit a speedo. In the end I just downloaded a speedo app for my phone. So I'm following this with interest!
  7. My apologies, I've only just seen this. Im not sure, I was given the D Mark by a Wurth rep years ago, I'm not actually a customer of theirs. I guard it with my life!
  8. Zalpon zorange here, which I find quite good. Not sure of its health or environmental credentials though, it contains pumice. The best I've ever used was Wurth D Mark. Fantastic stuff, sadly unavailable now.
  9. Thanks Chris, I had seen your blog actually, very helpful. I guess there's nothing to be done except dig the car out and have a look, I'd better get a bracket from CC too, unless they are a generic part from another vehicle?
  10. Thanks, I'll take a look.
  11. Evening Unfortunately I have no access to the car, hence the question. My 2009 sigma needs a number plate light, would anyone happen to know if there should be a connector shoved up under the rear basket somewhere, or do they tend to be wired into the side light circuit? If there is a connector, is it econoseal, or something else? I'm hoping to do it in a bit of a hurry for an MOT. many thanks
  12. I'm currently working on that. Should I be getting any significant power "leakage " across terminals that shouldn't be in use. I'm getting approx 4v from some terminals, does that indicate a bad earth somewhere?
  13. Thanks Brett Id seen that somewhere else, and was trying to make sense of it. My loom doesn't seem to have blue/white, or red, but there are 2 green/red and a red/black instead.
  14. Ladies and gents, electrical help required please. My car is an ex race car, and came without headlights and indicators fitted, which I have now obtained from the owner. I've got a problem with I'm trying to work through, but I'm really poor with electrical things, and a total novice with Caterhams so I need your help! Car is a 2009 Sigma. When I plug the econoseal together I get the following issue. Indicator on - side light and indicator flash together. Dip beam on headlight switch - Indicator and side light are solidly lit Full beam on headlight switch - same as dipped. Flasher switch - Side light and Indicator light solidly whilst switch is depressed. These symptoms are the same on both econoseal connectors left and right. I have cleaned the earth connection within the headlamp bowl, and also the one which clamps to the chassis inboard of the left headlight. I have a multimeter, but not much clue how to use it! Is this likely to be a simple case of the connection wired up incorrectly (from the headlight end)? Any thoughts would be appreciated (in very simple terms!) Thank you.
  15. Apologies John, 72mm was as close as Chris could get for internal bore size.
  16. Thanks Scott, your efforts are appreciated. When I spoke to Chris at Redline he said they weren't easy to measure! I've given Darren at Caterham a nudge this week, but still haven't had a response, I guess they would rather sell me a new driveshaft for several hundred quid...
  17. I haven't seen the video footage yet, but have really enjoyed your blog, long before I had a car. I particularly enjoyed the gathering of the tools and he links to Amazon etc. I'm really looking forward to the video. Your efforts are appreciated, well done. A brilliant achievement, building a car like that too.
  18. Would anyone who happens to have a driveshaft on the bench , or access to one, be able to put a set of callipers or a tape on the toothed ring and let me know the outside dimension please? I'm just speaking to a company about making the rings. I"ll report back if I make any progress, CC aren't helping much at the mo. cheers
  19. I think we cross posted John!
  20. Next update. John asked me to confirm the type of speedo I had, which has changed over the years. I followed the procedure on the excellent speedo guide, and found that the speedo reading was 041306. My tyre size is 185/60/13 so clearly it's set for the wrong size, however it's good news that it can be changed to accommodate different tyre sizes.
  21. Ok, so a little update for anyone who this may benefit. I located an econoseal connector which was cable tied up out of the way in the recess between the boot and wheel arch. With lots of help via messenger, from John Vine and Jonathan Kay, it appears that this is the part of the circuit where the speed sensor would plug in. The next suggestion was to check with a multimeter to see if it is receiving power. The probes on mine were far too fat to fit in, but I got around this by inserting a split pin into the socket and testing each hole in turn. The middle hole is registering power at 11.8. So that's a good start. I also managed to speak to Chris at Redline today , who informs me that the reluctor ring is not a part that they carry in stock. He suggested trying to find a scrap driveshaft to butcher. He really went out of his way to help me which confirmed everything that I'd heard about the company. If anyone happens to have a driveshaft on the bench that can confirm accurate sizes required for the reluctor, I'd be grateful if they could post them here, to help anyone in future with the same issue? John and Jonathan suggested that I revert to posting here as opposed to using messenger, which makes sense. Thanks to all for your input so far, every step is a step closer to getting me on the road. I'll be posting wanted ads for various bits and pieces shortly!
  22. That's fantastic, thank you. I had been browsing full drive shafts and wincing at the price! That looks a much nicer alternative! John, in regards to your thoughts about the econoseal connection, I think I may have located one tucked up between the boot and the offside wheel arch. It's cable tied up out of the way, I'll cut the tie tomorrow and see what's there. Thanks everyone for your input.
