  1. @7WOTW I assumed that the Caterham RBTB needs a bonnet cut - is that not correct? I thought I've seen the Pipercross foam filter sticking out on cars that have had the upgrade.
  2. @7 wonders - what's your take on the Caterham-fitted RBTB solution vs other options?
  3. I've been thinking the same re my 420R ... suspect I'll go the RBTB route from Caterham even though a tad pricey. Are people satisfied the 'factory' upgrade with remap provides a decent improvement? I'm really after more noise and 'drama' and maybe a bit on the top end - does the ECU upgrade include a rev limit change by any chance? Rich.
  4. Thanks ... will try a local body shop and see what they quote. Don't think it's a big job and sounds like new arch more hassle than it's worth.
  5. Hi nickh7, can't see a picture of these on their site - are they bigger than the standard stone chip protectors - I have caterham carbon ones on the front but the cone just clipped the small gap on the outside of the protector.
  6. I 'got a bit too close' to a cone at recent Blyton Park trackday and it has damaged my rear wheel arch - nothing major but the surface plastic has come off on a small chunk at the bottom exposing a bit of the fibreglass and there is a nick a bit further up too where the cone must have hit again. Whilst new arches seem cheap, I'm assuming getting them painted is less so. Anyone got a rangefinder for Oakmere or Caterham doing this? And are 'repairs' possible on these fibreglass pieces? Currently I've got some orange duck tape on there to stop it getting more scruffy (it's Arancio Argos). I'm not too upset having the battle scars visible but be useful to know my options... Rich.
  7. Thanks all - I found the turbulence pretty bad with doors off at Blyton so assume it is slower ... even though it kinda feels faster Need to get comfortable I can switch aero and windscreen around quickly and easily before I go that route - I am surprising myself how much I'm enjoying my time on the road and don't really want to use a helmet for all trips...
  8. Hi, can't find an answer to this. I assume that the car is quicker with doors on given increased turbulence and drag. Is that the accepted truth? Has anyone tried to measure it?
  9. Excuse my ignorance but are the 9" discs you mentioned the standard solid discs for the AP 2 pot callipers? Rich.
  10. Question above. Can the standard solid discs cope with extra heat from a higher friction pad or do people use vented discs with the Ferodo DS3000?
  11. Caterham don't seem to offer upgrades to get a 420 to 485 or old R500D spec. Is it an emissions thing or something? Or maybe just too expensive to be viable ... I would have thought there'd be a market to get to the ultimate NA setup - wasn't really attracted to the 620 with the supercharger.
  12. What is different about the 485 Duratec that gets it to 237bhp? Assume must have higher rev limit, the roller barrel throttles and different ECU? Be nice to get all those on my 420 :)
  13. Maybe a set of DS3000 are my next pad then. Anyone know what part no fits the 2 pot AP fronts and standard rears?
  14. Hi, just fitted some Mintex 1144 and seem to be stronger already than the Ferodo DSPF that came in the standard 2 pot fronts (AP 2014 on). Will try them on track next weekend but interested in giving the Performance Friction pads a try as some people seem to swear by them. Looking on the web it seems I want the 0044 pads for front and 0382 on the rear. As mentioned I have the standard brakes (ie the newer AP 2 pots at front used from 2014 onward). Have I got the right parts? How do they work from cold? The 1144 are fine but 1155 and hotter Ferodo pads (like DS3000) seem to need 200C which might make road driving a bit marginal. How are the PFC pads for noise? Also - does anyone have a link for people selling the 1155s that will fit? Can't seem to find anyone. Cheers - going to try a few out to see what suits me best. Rich.
  15. Thanks but I have the single shift light that they now fit on the R spec models rather than the ACES multi-light setup. It comes on less than 1s before the soft cut in 2nd so pretty close to limit.
  16. All helpful. As an aside, does anyone know at what revs the single light on the R spec cars comes on? I guess just over 7k??
  17. Sounds helpful - I'm planning on fitting this soon. Anyone else seeing a difference between actual revs reaches and what the tacho shows?
  18. Hi, I keep hitting the limiter as I'm expecting it to rev out to 7600-7800 but seems to cut at something like 7300 in second, it's a 2019 420R and weirdly it seems to get to more like 7500 in third so was thinking it might be damping of the needle making it lag. However the cut off is pretty quick after the shift light (I have the single red one currently) comes on. I was thinking of asking Oakmere to check the ECU next time I'm there ... have people seen them set up with a lower limit or is this likely just damping or inaccurate dial? Rich.
  19. Thanks for the tip Wim. I can't find a code like this on the Chipex site so for now I've gone with the Lambo colour 0117 and will see how close it is. I am only doing a couple of really small touch ups so hopefully it will be close enough. Rich.
  20. Thanks - yes have gone with 0117 seems right.
  21. Thanks - so looks like we're saying it is same spec as the Lambo paint - "LAMBOR-0117 - PPG code : 0117" ? Rich.
  22. Does anyone know the paint code for Argos Orange? Rich.
  23. I've just had that original GoPro bracket you linked delivered and tried in out on the roll cage. Really nice and fits excellently. I've added one more peice to give control over all axes for positioning but can recommend it and 25 quid ain't that much - although I have a cheapo GoPro copy for my actual camera
  24. Hi Jonathan - used RainX this time in prep for no-wiper-hell and for rain it's pretty good - mud and dirty spray etc - not so good.
  25. Re trailers, I meant the PRG MiniSporter ... forgot the name. According to their reviews, Oakmere have bought a number - bit pricey but look very nice.
