    Fuel types ?

understood. The one thing I do truly hate about my E400 are the bloody ridiculous low profile tyres. Absolutely no point in them. My old E320 on normal tyres would cruise over any pothole but I definitely feel them in the E400

off-topic Mrp, but what did you hate so much about the Merc? I've just bought a 2019 E400 4matic estate and love it so far. In a different league to my old 2004 E320
  3. If anyone knows of any Caterham Reg No's for sale?
  4. Phew! When I read the headline I thought at first you were referring to me! I can possibly throw some light on the matter. When clicking 'post' on finishing a missive there is no obvious message to say the post has been submitted so if there is a lag or slight delay it may seem that the entry hasn't been submitted and the temptation is there to click 'post' again. I'm certainly guilty of doing that - clicking another two times and then finding three posts appearing. It has always been a matter of confusion to me why we seem to be the only forum on the entire internet that does not allow a poster to delete a comment. If that were allowed you might find duplicate posts a thing of the past.
  5. It's interesting to me as well. I'd love to know what is thought to be the best for a K series Superlight. The answer may be buried somewhere in those 195 posts but it's too daunting. Perhaps some kind soul with the required technical knowledge could draw up a chart for all models?
  6. I certainly will. My normal weekend is Monday/Tuesday but being my own boss I do have flexibility so long as I'm not at an event. A lot of the novice days and schools are in the week and so far for nextr year I have booked onto Shelsley Walsh (April 20), Curborough (May 4), Prescott (May 26), Lotton Park (July7) and Curborough again (Sept 2). I'm also hoping to get to the club novice track day at Castle Combe in April when the date is announced (fingers crossed it doesn't clash with anything). For the time being those, track days and any mid week club sprints will have to scratch my itch.
  7. Hi Graham Thanks for the encouragement. Unfortunately i am going to have to limit myself to just getting a taste at a few mid-week sprint and hill climbing schools this year. Unfortunately competition dates all seem to be on a Saturday or Sunday which clash with my main job as an event caterer so until I retire or take a back seat from the day-to-day running of my company I'm not going to be able to compete.
  8. Hi Pete Whereabouts are you based? I'm In the same position. Really interested in sprinting but I have never done any, having only bought my superlight R earlier this year. Curborough Sprint course do novice days. A full days tuition as an intro to the sport. This year they are on May 4 and September 2. If the circuit isn't too far away (staffordshire), the May novice day might be worthwhile before the season gets underway too much
  9. Morning each I'm fitting a 32mm Roadsport cage to my car and looking for solutions to mount my SPA wing mirrors. After googling options last night I've come to the conclusion there are about two and a half options: 1. UPE Motorpsort 1a: Official Caterham mounts (look like rebranded UPE mounts) 2. DPR Motorpsort Actually there is probably another because DPR do two options - their original mount and a new slimline mount. Just looking at photographs I like the fact the Caterham parts are branded (you can never shout Caterham enough), I love the orange anodised aluminum of the UPE's and I like the slim profile of the DPR mounts but none of the photographs tell me how secure they fix, how prone (or not) they are to vibration or how easy it is to adjust mirrors on any of them. I doubt anyone has done a side by side comparison of them all but if you use any of them (also any I've not mentioned), what are your thoughts/recommendations?
  10. I can manage a visual inspection to ensure all four wheels are on the car, after that I have exhausted the extent of my engineering knowledge. Hat's off to you guys, I can only read your posts with wonderment.
  11. Thanks all. I have emailed Martin Phipps with the chassis number so hopefully he can come up trumps!
  12. That's Bizarre Charles. I didn't know who TSK were so I googled them and discovered they are on the same estate as GP Sevens where I bought my car! I should perhaps explain the reason for my question a little more. I am hopefully going to be collecting a Safety Devices Roll cage from another local member this week. The side intrusion bars were unfortunately fire damaged and will need re-powder coating so I thought whilst I was at it I might as well get everything powder coated and I quite fancied getting it all done in a matching shade of orange. Thus the question as to whether or not Caterham colours align with the RAL or BS system because then I know I would be able to get a powder coater to match it.
  13. I feel sure this must have been asked but a cursory search didn't reveal anything so please except my apologies. I would like to identify the colour of my car but all of the documentation I possess merely lists orange or 'burnt orange'. I think it might be the original colour of the car (it's certainly the same colour on the Superlight R register) but I have rarely seen another example. Photos are deceptive as it usually appears as a red but in the flesh it is most definitely a deep orange. Does anybody have knowledge of what colours were originally available on the Superlight R's in 1999. Failing that did (or do) Caterham stick to a specific colour system - RAL, BS381C or BS 4800?
  14. Just looking around the tinterweb and came across this: https://www.onedirect.co.uk/motorola/motorola-t82-extreme-quad-pack So would I be correct in thinking that, with this I could give a handset to each of my mates in their tintops and I could connect a Jal system to my handset and we could all communicate (provided of course we were within range of each other). This is irrespective of whatever system they use at the moment because they freely admit it's old and not very good.
  15. Cheers guys. I will investigate. They refer to it as a CB but the handset they give me is essentialy a walkie talkie with a PTT. I will find our exactly what it is they use
  16. Doug Possibly a couple of really silly questions but bear in mind I am absolutely totally non-technical and have never owned an intercom headset: 1. What is this 'PMR radio' that Rob speaks of? Is it additional equipment that I need? 2. I regularly blat with a couple of muscle head guys in their American Tin Tops. They communicate via CB and always give me a handset which I can't use because the sound quality is terrible and there is too much wind noise in the Caterham. Would your headset be able to communicate with them? Suspect the answer is no but worth asking the question PS. Thanks for the LED light kit - superb products
  17. You could save a bit of money towards the 420 by not buying that full hood that will never get used.
  18. My mission to pimp and tart my new Caterham continues. I've just received a complete set of LED lights from JAL, fitment of which will be one of my Winter hibernation projects. Whilst I'm tinkering with the lights I'd light to upgrade the functionality of my indicators. At the moment I can just see the offside side indicator from my lowered floor position and nothing at all of the nearside. As my Caterham just has two black nipples for selecting left and right indicators it's difficult to confirm whether they are actually on or off. I'd like to augment the current system with some sort of audible noise to telling me when I'm blinking. Can anyone recommend a solution?
  19. As a new owner I am wondering the same thing as this will be my first winter. At the moment it is on my drive under a Classic Additions all weather cover (I do not have a garage at my house) but I intend to move it to a garage that I rent about a mile away. Unfortunately the garage does not have any electricity.. I was intending to connect it to a solar powered charger such as the ECO-Worthy 60W Monocrystalline Solar Panel System available on Amazon but in view of comments above I am now concerned. I use an Odyssey Extreme PC680 and have just fitted a brand new one so I'd hate to cook it!
  20. It may be sacrilege to say it but does anyone else think the appeal of the CSR is a bit marmite? I personally find the squared off cycle wings really ugly
  21. Not Seven specific but related. I once had a gas engineer around to write out a certificate on all my mobile catering equipment. I connected it all up and he diligently sprayed every connection with leak detector. Satisfied that there was no sign of any air bubbles indicating a gas leak he happily wrote me out my certificate. He never asked me to turn the gas on so of course I didn't
  22. That would make a lot more sense. To be honest I'm not sure how it's attached as I didn't firt it but I'll take a look tomorrow. There are no obvious brackets
  23. Sorry, hit post before I had completed message
  24. Can I ask if anyone else has this type of brake light fitted. I am in a quandary as to whether to change it or not. I'm in the process of ordering LED lights from JAL and I'm wondering whether I should keep this or go for one of their smaller 'race' high level brake lights. The reason for considering a change is this unit takes up a lot of real estate on the roll-bar limiting where I can position the Go Pro and it also makes fitting the hood more problematic. I've never driven with the hood on (I'm a relatively new owner) but I would like to get a SBFS half hood and I'm concerned this wouldn't fit properly either. If anyone has one and can confirm a half hood would still fit ok it would help my decision because otherwise it's a relatively nice unit
