    Spare wheel

Sounds sensible Stephen. Thanks. Do you happen to know if the spare wheel fits to "pre-arranged points" or is it a mare? Jeff

    Spare wheel

I'm one of those neurotics who like to have a proper spare wheel (having had many punctures over the years!). I've just acquired a Supersport with 13in wheels, 8in rears and 6in fronts, and a can of puncture repair gunk which I don't trust. I wonder if anyone has an opinion on an appropriate spare arrangement? Maybe some sort of spacesaver which I could put in a spare carrier in a cover? Thoughts gratefully received! Jeff

    Half hoods

Yeah that's what Thundersport indicated but I was a little sceptical so that's nice to know. Better tight than loose as they say Martin!

    Half hoods

I have a Thundersport half hood from my old SV with a standard roll bar. I'm buying an SV with an FIA roll bar with the double diagonal. Does anyone know if it will fit OK? Jeff

    Mirrors

Hi Guys I would be very interested in any views, opinions, info on side mirrors which open with the "doors" on my SV and stay in place when doors are off (if such a thing exists?!). I bought the official kit to fix the mirrors to the screen frame which is fine with no doors, but when they're on makes fully opening the doors impossible and thus getting in and out becomes a contortion! Jeff
  6. Further to my recent posting on oil pressure I've decided to replace the sender initially. But I can't find the damn thing! I'm used to not finding things under the bonnet of my old 535d but there's a bit more space on the 7! Obviously being stupid but can anybody tell me where it is? Thanks in anticipation. Jeff
  7. Sump foam long gone and baffle drilled so no probs there. Any recommendation regarding suitable mechanical gauge Ian? Jeff
  8. Hi Jonathan I'll check the actual readings tomorrow when I'm home and get back to you. Jeff
  9. I have a 2001 Roadsport 140 bhp with 20k on the clock and running fine touch wood. But I have always been concerned that the gauge shows warm running pressure of no more than 20 psi and often lower. Is it likely to be the gauge and/or sender or do they have oil pressure problems? Any views and comments welcome. Jeff H
  10. Hi Guys Can anyone give me some advice on above. I want to put an SV Roadsport up for sump removal/oil change etc. Thanks Jeff
  11. Thanks for that. Confirms what I thought
  12. Does anyone know of a suitable mirror to clamp on the windscreen for use when the sidescreens are removed? Jeff
  13. My Roadsport had a slightly damaged N/S/R wing when I bought it a few months ago and the dealer said they would replace it at my convenience. As I live some distance away I asked them to supply the part and I would fit it (which they were obviously happy with!). The new wing duly arrived but when I went to remove the damaged wing I realised that it had a clear thick plastic protective film applied to the front half. When I asked the dealer about this they simply said take the film off the good O/S/R wing so that they matched and that it served no useful purpose anyway! I have been trying to find a company that does this sort of work with no luck so far and would be grateful if anyone can point me in the right direction and/or has any thoughts on this type of treatment. Jeff
  14. Thanks guys.Very droll Toby! It seems to open and close through full range. Just doesn't stop the flow of hot water. I'll get a TX11 as suggested. Jeff
  15. Hi Guys Simple question. Are they actually supposed to work? Is it worth my getting a new one to try and isolate the heater matrix in the summer? Jeff
  16. I have a £150 voucher given me as a present which is valid until 16 November. As I am unlikely to be using it would anyone like to make me an offer?
  17. Assuming I have a standard Caterham gasket fitted with the baffle extension I might just drill it and refit. What are the recommended size and position of holes anyone?
  18. Have just noticed a record in the service history which says the sump baffle was removed in 2008 at 18k miles but makes no mention of its replacement. So we shall see.
  19. Many different opinions then! I shall be interested to see whether I have a foam baffle when I pull it all apart. Since the only record of replacement seems to be in 2004 some 15k miles ago I suspect it will either be in a right state, not there or completely liquidised! I'm not an engineer but I don't see why a few baffles could not have been incorporated in the modified sump to prevent surge?
  20. So the bottom line is it's probably best to remove the foam baffle but stick with the Caterham gasket with the "shelf" which acts a baffle?!
  21. So does the shelf serve any useful purpose since there's already a baffle in place in the form of the foam sump baffle?!
  22. Does anyone know if there the standard gasket (sold by Europarts for £16.49 inc P & P) will fit, as Caterham want £52.94 + £4.80 P & P!? In the pictures on the respective sites the shape and bolt holes appear identical but the Caterham one seems to have some surplus gasket where there are no bolt holes? Thanks Jeff
  23. Thanks for your message Jonathan. I tried to reply but your mailbox is full?! Jeff
  24. Does anyone have an opinion on the efficacy of replacing coils and/or the two HT leads. I have a 2002 1.8 Roadsport with an EU3 140 bhp 25k on the clock. It runs fine at the moment and I am just doing my first routine service having acquired the car last September. The coils appear to be original and the leads were possibly replaced at 17k 11 yrs ago. Thanks Jeff
