Hi, maybe i'm interested because a friend is searching for one. do you have any photos or a link to the manufacturers site? best regards from Germany, Jochen
The tensioner rod is a very simple thing with two rose joints - one left and one right hand threadened - secured with counter nuts. The Denso alternator fix both - the original HPC and the SBD manifold. Narrowest point is between the power connector for the batterie cable and the steering rod. Let me know if you want any detailed pictures.
Had the very same problem. Solved by changing the radius arms bushes.
Almost the same noise accrues if the bearings of the cardan joint get knocked out.
Hope i found the right technical terms...
Many years ago when i was a young car mechanic i did an oil change at an Audi with over 60000 km on the clock without change or refill any oil. It was warm but run out of the sump like bubble gum but the engine was running well...
Quoting Roger Ford: Quoting SM25T: A lot of us have upgraded to the newer hubs with larger diameter stub axle and sealed inner and outer bearings. Both bearings are the same size.
It's an expensive way to get rid of a felt seal ...... but nice peace of mind.
I've seen several of the old stub axles fail on race cars. I wouldn't want to use them for track use.
I think the old thin stub axles would do it for me to pick up some flowers of course they work without any issues since 1995...
Quoting elie boone: What is wrong with the felt seal ? it works perfectly, oil it slightly but don't overdo it or the whole side of your car is coverd in oil
Maybe i overfilled the hubs last time a little bit but there was always some litthe grease splashes on the breake discs. One side more than the other. The benefit was that they wont squeak 😬
This time i want to prevent contaminate the new expensive brake pads with grease... So i think if there are no suitable rubber seals available the best i can do is to replace the very old felt seals with new ones.
Does anyone know if you can get a more modern felt seal for the front hubs ? Any new style ones without the cotton like stuff in them?
Someone tells me the GHS146 lip seal from the Spitfire will replace the felt thing. Spitfire started life with the felt seal then went to the rubber lip seal. I never tried it.
My 1985 live axle have the old style front hubs.

Yokohama quote a dynamic rolling circumference of 1760 mm that means in motion the tyre have a different dimension than static.
The rim width is also important. The measured values found out on a 6 inch wide rim

I am trying to find out the part numbers for Mintex 1144 and also the Pagid RS14 pad's to fit the older style AP 4 Pot brake upgrade ( black caliper with one bolt pad holder) and recommendations on shoes for the rear which are the english axle with drums. Think there must be some suppliers for the Escort guys who have different pads as the original ones. Any help would be great.
does anybody knows the width of the mesh that's wrapped around the perforated inner pipe of every Raceco can ? Last time i repacked it the mesh was damaged. This time i want to replace it.
does anybody know where i can buy some for a 2.3 280 bhp Duratec ? I think ACL or Glyco are fine and stronger than the orign ones ??
Also need a set of ARP rod bolts.
Nothing found on ebay.
Thanks from Germany,
Jochen
Hi Björn,

Vielleicht können wir da was zusammen organisieren, möchte mir auch einen Satz kaufen und könnte eventuell den Transport günstig organisieren...

Jochen
Now i begin to see...
I've set up the suspension as high as possible without loose the balance.
At the moment i have 185/60 13 A048's at front.
But i want to swap to the Caterham wet sump with the new engine that i build at the moment and also to 15 " wheels if i can catch some lightweight ones.
