  1. John you might want to look at a Ford oil/water exchanger and save some money? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Ford-Zetec-1-4L-Sigma-1-6L-Petrol-Engine-Oil-Cooler-1925463/272379403929?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649
  2. Now this is the help I needed to adjust the handbrake? https://www.facebook.com/ISRmechanic/videos/1891747387742864/
  3. I will be putting a lightweight flywheel on my SV, I really wanted to also put on ARP bolts and a new driven plate. Therefore my questions are:- 1) What Size of ARP bolts do I use for the flywheel and does anybody know where I can buy them? 2) Where can I get a standard clutch driven plate and is it a Ford C-Max part? Thanks in advance for any help, Andy

Sorry should have been in Tech Talk!
  6. Crikes Jonathan 1A is certainly enough to charge my Iphone! What are you trying to do power a warship? :0)
  7. I was thinking about cockpit power too, but some of my units need a cigar lighter socket so I was thinking of this https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B076KFWDSY/?coliid=I1NV9IAA0KSIAJ&colid=2SUAQ07C410WT&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it
  8. These are new calipers but OEM not Ford, Biggred also refurbish.
  9. rhauri, here's the items I bought from Dave Kimberley at DT for your ref:-
  10. SM25T, yes axle stands and an engine hoist to the roll over bar, I love life!
  11. SM25T I have just crawled under the car and I can see exactly what you mean, I fear however I will have to tell my wife that I need a small handed Japanese girlfriend to get her fingers up to the adjusters. Caterham must have some sadistic designers?
  12. No I'm afraid not, I did the old fashioned way and called up on the phone :0) Asked for Caterham rears which are also Sierra rears, the box says Part No 5023226 Here is the bill with part numbers I could not find them on the website. Ordered a kit of parts from Dave Kimberley to use flexible hose on the rear calipers I don't like the way that the copper tubes are flexed when the caliper moves!
  13. rhauri, yes if you look at my 1st post they were the ones I asked about, however if you look at the Burton ones they are rebuilt and not new, they also want £30 deposit so if the bores were rusted you could end up paying £56.06 + £56.06 + £36 + £36 = £184.00 BiggRed sold me a new pair including tax and shipping for £170. I don't skimp or try to save money on brakes.
  14. They should be standard single pots, Dave Kimberley of DT has just advised MGB 533 or MGB 535 which are a tad deeper?
  15. Tom, I owe you a beer, a slot seems to be the way forward, I would never have got there by myself!
  16. Does anybody know the part number for the front pads? I know that the rears are MDB1287 but I have hunted on here for a parts list and failed!
  17. OK new calipers from Biggred coming tomorrow, apparently I have to adjust the handbrake cable near the diff nose :0)
  18. OK extended Caterham dinner break, piston is seized but not leaking so I think that the brake fluid level just got lower due to wear in the pads, now we can't get that dam handbrake cable off!
  19. Just to thank you all for your advice, I decided with my advanced age that an SV with fuel injection was going to be easier for me to live with. Hopefully I will fit a lightened flywheel and an oil/water exchanger then run it for the summer prior to upgrading it to 140 BHP.
  20. Thanks Guys, I am new back to Caterhams (I had I think No 12 with a Twin Cam originally which is now residing in Japan) and I had forgotten the enduring way they love you, being of advanced age I wanted to draw on your experience before I spent money and made mistakes. I do appreciate all your help and advice, I fell in love with them again this morning watching the front mudguards dancing and hearing the exhaust pop as I drove through my part of the New Forrest:- 2010 Sima SV 18,500 miles I bought it from a Caterham dealer but "sold as seen" so I'm not at all worried about doing some minor bits of work. After making sure it's reliable (brake fluid etc as Tom advises) I plan to put a TTV lightened flywheel in, a heat exchanger (oil/water) run it for the summer then look at upgrading it to 140/150bhp and nickle plate the front suspension. Oh I should also add that the brake warning light(s) are flashing whatever that means so I will have to RTFM? Tom, I am in East Dorset bordering on Hampshire
  21. Just took my recently purchased SV out and noticed that it was not rolling freely when coating to a halt. So when I got home I jacked up one side and sure enough the nearside rear is not spinning freely. I think they are Sierra calipers, can someone confirm? Is this a typical Caterham problem (it is on my 71 elan). Is there anything wrong using rebuilt calipers from Burton? http://www.burtonpower.com/caliper-rear-cosworth-2wd-ford-sierra-rh-xc71347.html If it's the same problem as the elan it would be the handbrake mechanism is this so with a Caterham?
  22. Just called National Windscreens (Poole) and they have done a great job, apparently they do stock just heated screens without a frame themselves in a central store , they shipped it overnight and ready for me to pickup this morning! So that has only taken them Tuesday until this morning which I rate as good service?
  23. Duck..............It needs to be a heated screen to pass the MOT, if they cut one it will be plain glass?
  24. Thanks SM and Tom, it's in the hands (or not) of the Insurance company, I will however let National Windscreens know about 7's and Classics.
  25. I also have a cracked screen, called my insurance company and within 1hr National Windscreens called me, he convinced me that if I removed the windscreen and took it to them he could change it a lot quicker. So did what he said and they ordered a new screen that day, just called them up 2 days later and still no windscreen from Caterham. Called Caterham it transpires that they only sell heated windscreens in the frame and they have no record of shipping one to National Windscreens, they also are on back-order. Called National Windscreens back and realised they are friendly but don't know what they are doing. I can see this is going to take awhile. Oh the delight of owning a Caterham :0)
