  1. Thanks Jonathan, I also found this document.:- http://www.caterhamracing.com/downloads/newsletters/superlight240702.pdf I was considering welding the tube up using a coded welder, adding damper mount gussets and then putting it through a Dye Pen crack test, but it looks like the latest tube is thicker gauge steel in a number of locations and has longer damper mounts- so probably worth 350 quid and peace of mind. Thanks for taking the time to highlight and document the issue. Rob.
  2. Sorry - just found the thread. https://www.lotus7.club/forum/techtalk/summary-dedion-tube-failures
  3. Evening, Has anyone had any experience of the DeDion tube spliting / cracking around the shock fixing ? /sites/default/files/images/users/43382/large_DeDion%20tube%20split.jpg The car is 20 years old. Interested to know if anyone has seen this before and if there are modifications on later DD tubes to mitigate this failure mode. Thanks Rob.
  4. Afternoon Stu, Did anything come up with martin please ? Regards Rob.
  5. Hi Stu, Will you contact Martin Phipps guy or would you like me to do this ? If you would like me to do it, can you give me some background and contact details so I don't sound too much of a wally. Thanks Rob.
  6. Thanks for this. I will check them out. Rob.
  7. Good evening, Thanks for the response. Can you confirm the material type of the original plaque that you have please ? If it is Stainless steel - then it looks like you've found a good source. Rob
  8. I'm interested in a good quality plaque from Caterham - but not at any price. I think if we can get a high resolution photo of an original plaque with good lighting then we should be able to go to a specialist and get some re-produced. I'm happy to investigate this if the Caterham OE route closes.
  9. Stu, Thanks for the help on this. I'm interested if there are any other SLR owners who want to get retrospective plaques made. I guess we just need to know the OEM supplier name or get the artwork. Can I register on the Caterham register website without a plaque ? Thanks , Rob.
  10. Good afternoon, I'm the new owner of a 1999 SLR 1.8 VHPD. I received the original bill of sale from Caterham in the history file and it states that the car is Superlight #89. Can anyone tell me why some of the cars have a cockpit badge and some of them don't ? Thanks in advance Rob
