  1. Neil, if this is the Cobra Legends edition then yes I have a copy you are welcome to. Please pm me with details of how you would like me to send it. Suggest a donation to Prostate charity to cover the postage if you are happy. Dennis.
  2. Also had good experience with Banner, at least five years. With an intelligent trickle charger they seem fine. You can add an overflow tube (for a few pence) if not fitted but not sure that is really necessary. Isn't checking the electrolyte level one of the many pleasures of owning this type of car ? BTW Recommend Tanya for batteries.
  3. So you are now offering a s/hand item for £130 (incl p/p) that can be bought new for £107. Am I missing something ?
  4. A small screwdriver will do it but it is tricky/fiddly to do it without damage. One of those things that become easier once you have done the first one. Might be worth getting some spare silicon seals as its easy to damage them (pence on ebay). There are a few videos on utube that show you in detail how to do it, I found these invaluable. Just google econoseal pin removal.
  5. Just notice a pair of used but good condition S3 leather seats sold today for £650 on ebay. I know these are over £500 each new put this sounds a lot to me or is this about right. Dennis.
  6. This a common problem with these gauges. I have repaired several with superglue, works fine - dont be in any hurry to replace with new. Suspect the problem is difference in heat expansion coefficient between case & glass bezel.

  8. Tony, hope you didn't think I was being rude, just going on what I've had mine valued at for insurance & part ex etc. Imo, these 5-10yr old second hand mercs are great value, particularly diesels. Thought about upgrading to a newer BMW but most of the standard options on the merc. are additional extras on the BMs. Happy to pay the service cost & tax to drive what to me is a luxury car (well compared to the caterham) for not much money. Dennis.
  9. Tony, I have the same model & love it however your son's price is, shall we say, a bit optimistic.
  10. There is definitely a problem with these Caerbont gauges. I've had it happen with the oil pressure gauge & happened again with one I bought a spare off ebay. Not sure if it is vibration or heat that causes the casing to fracture. If you have a clean break you can superglue it back together as a temporary fix, suggest buying new O rings for re-fitting. New gauges from Caterham are expensive, if they have them in stock. Not sure if more recent ones are prone to fracturing.
  11. Ian, thanks. Not the same connectors so obviously different model so no good for my car, so have to give it a miss. Thanks again. Dennis.
  12. Ian, looks the same but definitely different model number. Just to be sure any chance you can post a pic of the back showing connectors. Dennis.
  13. Ian, sounds fine I'll pm you my details. Dennis.
  14. I'm looking for a replacement electric oil pressure gauge, K series Caerbont / Caterham part 71252. The plastic case of mine has fractured, it works but falls out the dash. A common problem I believe. Probably going down the mechanical or remote sender route eventually but right now I would like to replace it so I have one rather than a hole. If you have a spare one let me know the price (inc. shipping to Somerset). Thanks. Dennis.
  15. Tom, thanks for the update on the detail of construction of hinges etc. Also interested how you attached wing mirrors. Agree, worthy of a LF article. Dennis.
  16. Tom, that is pretty impressive. Don't suppose you have any templates etc, particularly thinking about the hinges. Dennis.
  17. Richard, can I have the polisher please. I'll need it sending to Somerset so I will pm you my postcode so that you can get a courier quote. Thanks, Dennis.
  18. Trevor, interested in the indoor cover. Would need posting though - to Somerset. Dennis.
  19. Not for any test/certification just want to secure it properly as it half came off on my last blat. Looks like some black gunge under the trim, not sure if that is old glue or decomposing rubber. As it is a cheap item from Caterham I'm quite happy to replace but still have the same question - should I glue it on ? Dennis.
  20. Is the edge trim supposed to be a push fit or should it be glued, if so with what. Mine has started coming off & doesn't seem very secure. Dennis.
  21. Advertising on behalf of my neighbour. Believe these are the official Avon/Caterham academy series tyre, they have only done a couple of track laps I believe. I have seen the tyres & they look as new. Came off Justin Heap's 2018 Academy car & currently at his father's home (my neighbour) in Taunton, Somerset. Dennis.
  22. I'm looking to buy my first 7 probably a Roadsport 125 or 140. I've sat in one with a normal floor & that seems fine for someone quite short like me (5' 5" ish). As I've seen one I quite like with a lowered floor I just wondered what the actual difference to the driving position is between the two & whether the lowered floor would be a mistake. As the car for sale is a great distance from me I'd thought I'd just ask member's opinions before I go have a look. Thanks Dennis.
