  1. Why not just use a bit of double sided tape and 2 black cable ties?
  2. How heavy are the hood sticks? I.e. is it worth removing?
  3. I damaged my original rear exit exhaust by bottoming it out on N.Irelands bumpy roads so because of this and that I don't like the look of the rear silencer I've a noisy side exit my on 620 and will be needing earplugs! I believe its a must for track use to comply with noise limits but I won't be doing any. long side silencer to fit and SV - £300 (bought in error as my car is an S3) link pipe to fit an S3 - £200 (though it can be extended by clamping a short sleeve on the 90deg end to make it fit an SV) rear silencer - £200 Price includes postage to UK address. Email me on msmit150@hotmail.com
  4. Why not just buy a lovely Oxford analogue motorbike clock, they look like a Diving watch and come in black or silver, suit a 7 perfectly for under £30 and are designed to be Velcroed on.
  5. Just get a Ctek 12v power socket adapter and use it...................far handier. Only thing is if you have a battery isolator like me it has to be on!
  6. Its not a Lithium battery, its an Odyssey PC680. Mines been sitting on my Ctek MX5.0 for 2 months now.
  7. My thoughts.................. At least a set of good bulbs like Osram Nightbreakers. Then look at LED options if that's not enough.

    310R vs 420R

ScottR400D.............I know, I was just putting the idea out there!

    310R vs 420R

Geoff Brown.........................I know all about it, I spoke to the owner and he told me the story....................... unfortunately after he sold it to Millwood, as I said though the solid green is my personal least liked colour on a car and the price made me pass on it. I did even consider Carbon wings and strips to lift it a bit.

    310R vs 420R

My ideal car might well be a perfect R500d or a perfect R400/420R with a 6 speed box but I never found such a car and before anyone says 'millwood have an R500', I know but it looks crap in solid green imo and its over priced imo, I've spoken to John. So do what I did and buy a 620s, 5 speed issues irrelevant as you have lots of power!
  11. No, never thought of testing it boiling water! Might try it. I wanted it as a guide of the oil temperature as I'm paranoid about revving an engine on oil that's not at least 70deg and especially with the erratic cooling that's so ambient temperature sensitive on a 620.
  12. How often does the BMW LSD oil need changed?
  13. Just fill oil in the top hole until the oil runs out of the large lower hole.
  14. So I ended up buying a small digital temperature gauge from Ebay that reads to 110Deg, stuck it on the dash just above the oil pressure gauge and ran the lead through the firewall and taped it onto the back side of the dry sump tank with aluminum insulation tape. It seems to read well as I tried the probe in the oil return flow by taking the lid off and checking it for accuracy by running the car right up to full temperature and the oil eventually got up to 85deg. £1.21.................I kid you not! I bought 2, should have bought more maybe! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-BLACK-AQUARIUM-TEMPERATURE-GAUGE-LCD-DIGITAL-THERMOMETER-FOR-FISH-TANK-SMART/163272111685?hash=item2603c6b645:m:mL6UzFBu7qApMXE83wGHq6A:rk:7:pf:0
  15. Ha ha................I didn't state the obvious light jacket, top, t, jeans, socks, Reebok race shoes and............. Boxer's
  16. Well..............people have managed fine without them in 7's since the 60's but they are good. Coldest day and all you need is a hat and gloves, heater on, heated seat on and its toasty!!!! Really all you need is the heater.
  17. I take it I may just need this then..................... https://caterhamparts.co.uk/senders/17-temperature-sender-96-onwards.html?search_query=temperature+sender&results=77 And a switch......................... https://caterhamparts.co.uk/switches/235-switch-indicator-2002-onwards.html?search_query=indicator+switch&results=124
  18. Well I got them fixed, seems the wiring block Caterham use for the seats is bolted onto the fire wall right above the steering column so they bolt it on and then push the 2 control relays in which can push out the spade connectors. 2 of mine where out. It's a PITA to get at! I sorted that and Velcroed the block back in place.
  19. I've got it in my head that I'd like to know my oil temperature as I'm paranoid about cold oil! My current, cheapest, easiest idea is but a small digital battery powered gauge from Ebay for £1 (I kid you not) and stick it to the bottom of the dry sump tank with alloy tape and use heat transfer paste to get a good signal. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LCD-DIGITAL-FISH-AQUARIUM-WATER-TANK-THERMOMETER-TEMPERATURE-50-C-TO-110-C-NEW/292163797135?hash=item440651c08f:g:9i0AAOSwjvJZQzyk:rk:48:pf:0 I think the best way would be to replace the oil pressure gauge with a dual pressure and temp display from Racetech or Spa but I'm not keen on mods like that, I just want to know if my oil is warm enough! How have others done this easily? Thanks
  20. Sorry to dig this up but I have a 620S and have just ordered 10L of Millers Fully Synthetic 10/60W nanodrive for my winter oil change. I think Caterham use Millers............do they? A high level motorsport friend always spoken highly of Millers. The handbook states 10/60W for the 620, thicker than the NA Duratec which requires 5/50W. The only road car that I know of that uses 10/60W is an E92 V8 M3 and they have been known to kill shell bearings though I think thats due to owners not allowing the oil to warm before enjoying the rev limiter!!! I had an E92 M3 and was always mindful of cold oil.
  21. It's that it's currently not that bad and the mention of having to drop the silencer from a tree to get the cap off put me off the most!!!!! That and the faffing around with fabrication to re-assemble.
  22. Found it..................put me off doing it to be honest!!! https://www.lotus7.club/forum/techtalk/can-standard-silencer-be-repacked-yes-it-can-see-post-8
  23. After a bit of advice............ I've just discovered my large Duratec caterham silencer could do with new packing as when its held up you can hear the packing sliding up and down in the can, I'd say about a third of the packing is gone judging by this. The car sounds ok as in its not overly noisy. Its an original polished Cheeseman silencer and is riveted at the front, my question is has anyone drilled off the rivets and opened one of these up successfully? I don't want to drill them off to find its a hammering session to open up and in doing so, not worth it as I'll do more damage than good! If its ok to do I'll get some Acousta-fil, some new stainless rivets and re-do it. Thanks
