  1. I had a secondhand 4-1 set of primaries and collector professionally polished for £80 by a local metal finisher in Portsmouth a couple of years ago. It has stood up well and is still as bright. I am a bit of a polisher though. Chris
  2. The loose engine mount is an interesting thought, if it’s a K could the exhaust manifold be touching the side skin under breaking.
  3. Thanks for all your help and idea Gents. I will post the outcome if it works out. Enjoy Angelsey Dave, alas not for me. Chris
  4. Dave, if you have time could you post a couple of close ups of your installation so I can assess the distances from the side skin. I suspect I will have to talk to an exhaust builder achieve the level of precision required. Thanks for your help.
  5. Hi Dave Thanks for getting in contact and the info. I have aquired a set of Caterham 4-1 long primaries which I want to join to the standard silencer with internal cat. Do you know if the headers on your car are the Caterham 4-1 or bespoke. It looks like I will have to get the primaries on my car bent to meet the silencer as they swoop down too low with the collector added.
  6. Recently, I was looking at some photos I took of the club parking area at last years Castle Combe classic and noticed a yellow car which had a very neat installation of the standard K silencer with a set of long exhaust primaries. I am planning to try and do the same modification and would be interested in how it was done. I know this is a bit of a long shot but if the owner is on here perhaps you could drop me a message. Thanks Chris
  7. Geoff Just checking you got my message ok. Chris
  8. Hi Geoff That sounds great I will PM you. Chris
  9. Anyone got a standard K series silencer with internal Cat they no longer want? I don't need the manifold and condition is not too important as I am planning to try and connect it to a set of Caterham 4-1 long primaries. I am south of Guildford so I could collect a local example to avoid the hassle of post. Thanks Chris
  10. Nice to meet you both on your sunny birthday blat this morning. Yes I did get my mobile number wrong. If you want to PM me I will forward the correct details. Chris
  11. Thanks Garybee, Good point. I will have a look tomorrow.
  12. I would imagine the studs will have fused into the Aluminium. I think I will put it back together and have a rethink, I have head work booked with DVA in the Autumn. The plan was to fit the separate primaries in advance of the work but it will have to wait. Thanks again all.
  13. Thanks for your thoughts gents. The manifold is the standard single unit.I am fitting a set of separate primaries. As you suggest SM25T, shortening the studs should work if I can get enough access cut them.
  14. I have removed all the nuts and caphead but the loose manifold appears to be trapped behind the water rail. Do I really need to remove the water rail ( drain the system?) to give the manifold enough clearance for removal. The long studs into the head don’t help. Any thoughts appreciated.
  15. It would be nice if they did a 4-2-1 that connected to the existing standard K silencer/cat. The system looks very nice but I prefer the smaller diameter of the stock system. I think powerspeed only provide a 7 inch diameter silencer.
  16. Andrew, I have a clean set of 5 Prisoners shod with outdated ZV1 tyres which would need replacing. The wheels have the early aluminium rather plastic centre covers and key. I believe they are Ford fit but can check if you are interested. PM if you want more info.
  17. Thanks for you thoughts Gents. Chris
  18. Has anyone successful managed to connect the Caterham K series 4-1 primaries and collector as on the R300/400 (without a cat) to the standard K series silencer with internal cat and twin mounting points. I prefer the look of the smaller diameter can of the standard system but want an intenal cat for road use. I appreciate the non standard systems are a better solution but I don't think the dustbin size silencers suit the car.
  19. Superb piece of work. Out of interest was the EU2 version significantly different? I gather it can’t be remapped. Chris
  20. Can I have the red one please. Will pm you. Chris
  21. We must be the only car club who don’t have a sticker.
