Hi Jonathan its not happening at the moment it seams to be ok and then it over heats again went to take it out for a short drive today and forgot my wallet so nipped back by the time i had nipped in the garage for the wallet it was overheating. So jacked it up high front end and massaged pipes again nothing but stat opened stayed steady. Took it out round the block brought it back stopped overheated again tried the jacking up a couple of times more but still the same. Looks like the air is around the stat so sometimes it works and sometimes not. So was thinking of drilling the stat but when refilling was going to take the bypass hose of the rail and making a temporary tee piece with a temporary hose to the rail and slowly fill once full taking the temporary bits off keeping my thumbs on hose and rail then pushing it back on quickly really dont want a full time tee piece unless i have to. what do you think im at my wits end with it

Hi thanks for the advise do you have the hole in the thermostat aswell to let it bypass into the radiator loop ?

Hi ive got oil temp gauge always keep an eye on it. I did the oil change comma fully synthetic 5w - 50

like to get as much information as pos seams that every things ok though its my first year with it so learning alot*wobble*

Thanks Jonathan do you think the pressures sound about right somebody else has said it will run higher in the winter as the oil is thicker

Hi can anyone tell me the correct oil pressures for my car 1.8 k series r 300 dry sump the pressure gauge has been changed to a mechanical i think when starting up runs around 60 and then when everything gets up to temp it seams to run around 35-40 on idle and then back up to 60-70 on higher revs maybe a bit more on harder driving. Also has anybody fitted a low pressure warning light in case the oil pump belt snaps while driving to give you a warning are they easy to fit ?

Hi recently changed my hoses to silicone re filled listening to all the little tricks to not get air locks. when i started it first time let it idle bottom hose got hot thought great job done then left it. couple of days later tried to take it out overheated so brought it back massaged hoses and it seamed to stabilize so gave it another run temp stayed around 70. Took it out today everything ok over a few bumps and swaying the car side to side just to make sure temp stayed around 70 so started to push it a bit more back to overheating brought it back to garage and it stabilized again my mechanic said i should drive it to get rid of air has anybody got any tips. i didnt do any mods to system its a dry sump r 300 no heater.

Hi can anyone tell me what the top small hose is for on the expansion tank on my k series runs into the top of the engine does coolant flow through it all the time or is it a expansion tube ?

Hi can anybody tell me the best place to get waterless coolant and make and how much i need engine is a 1.8 k series and is it worth doing ?

Hi my top hose on my car is looking a bit shabby was thinking of changing all the hoses to either silicone or braided has anybody got any advise on this and where to get them have looked on the internet at various silicone ones but cant seem to find much in the braided hoses.

Hi does anybody know the torque settings when putting my dry sump back on my k series and is there a sequence to tightning the bolts or is it diaganol oposites a bit at a time ?

noticed that when you by the steering wheel its not drilled does this need to be done by a machinest or can you do it yourself ? or can you buy with the boss fitted probably not so what is the boss thats fitted standard to the caterham

Hi im wanting to swap my leather quick release momo steering wheel to a suede one but i dont really want to start changing the boss can i just buy a suede one that fits the same boss and then can just flit between the 2 wheels the one i have is factory fitted has anybody done this
