  7. Afternoon all, better short notice than never, a few activities in the next few weeks or so Wednesday 8th May – usual monthly meeting at the Old Mill – weather is showing as 100% chance of rain so I may well go in the dry, but less exciting, comfort of a tin top – let me know numbers and I will call ahead and book if needed Sunday 12th May – Hurworth Classic Car Show – I haven’t been organised enough to get myself a ticket to “show” but I will be heading down there to view (and taking the 7 as it’s due to be chilly, but dry) – anyone fancy a run out? If anyone is booked to show and would like the North East L7C feather flag, let me know? Sunday 19th May – Monthly Blat – I have put a rough route onto Blatmaps (L7C website homepage, click on “guides” then click on “blatmaps” – zoom in and it’s the one covering the “sun” in Sunderland). Meet at 9ish at Washington Services northbound for a coffee and bacon sandwich, head off at 10ish, through the Tunnel (have your money ready and hope for no breakdowns on the A19 – not mentioning any names of the drivers of the grey, orange or waaffly green/ali cars), up towards Morpeth, stop at the garden centre just off the A1 on the A697, up to Coldstream, across to Kelso and Jedburgh, back south over the border, head down the military road to Corbridge and through to Riding Mill an staying on the 68 towards Consett etc so people can dive off in whichever direction as we go. Hoping to have a few at the start at Washington Services and then pick up a few more as we go through Newcastle and fingers crossed Andy will have a rare chance to join us in a newly fixed car? Quite a long one at 170miles or so and perhaps a gentler blat than some of the shorter ones – but plenty of time for stops, coffee and craic? Let me know if you are in and please have a look at the route on Blatmaps and I can tweak or adjust if needed? Food and coffee breaks to be arranged with the usual amount of planning (i.e. we’ll work it out on the day when whoever is leading the gaggle stops…..) Saturday 8th June – Yorkshire Pie Run meet up - Meet at the Hartlepool/A19 McDonalds, head down through Coulby Newham, skirt around Stokesley, through Great Broughton, Chop Gate and then stopping at Helmsley for a coffee. We can then either go directly to Whitby to meet the Yorkshire 7’s or go a bit further south to meet them on their route? More details to follow nearer the time, but would like to gauge interest? If anyone could recommend some parking for us, would be appreciated. See you all on Wednesday.
  8. Its that time again......... The 7's are rested and fettled, batteries on the trickle charge......just waiting for the sun to appear....... As we live in the North East, the sun won't appear, so sod it, lets get out this Sunday anyways! 9 - 9.30 at Durham Services (jcn 61 of the A1) and then onward to Middleton In Teesdale, Brough, and lunch at the Fat Lamb in Kirby Steven. Maybe a drive up to Tan Hill (highest pub in the UK or England I believe) and perhaps a gentile afternoon tea in Barnard Castle? The usual north eastern suspects are already lined up and ready to go, so come and join us (and if nothing else, make the group look at little more attractive than we are as a collective currently) Paul
  9. After some spirited debate at last night’s meeting, we (eventually) agreed on a finalised route for Sunday’s blat. So, today, I have ignored it and come up with an alternative! However, it’s still a good ‘un! The sun WILL be shining, NO-ONE will get lost, my car WILL NOT require a push start and much merriment WILL be had! Meet at 9 to 9.30 at Wolviston Services (A19/A689 junction). We'll then head down the A19 at around 9.45 to 10 and pick up the A174 (couple of junctions after the Tees flyover). We'll take the 2nd exit from the 174 and head towards Coulby Newham and then Stokesley. From Stokesley, we'll head through Great Ayton and onto the Guisborough by-pass and stop at the Subway/Co-Op Petrol station (to meet some others). At about 11, we'll follow the route linked below (should be a click to open fingers crossed – have included both a Facebook link and a Google link). Brian M, John R, James K & Paul A are all familiar with this route/area so we will (subject to how many cars) split the group with a couple of cars behind each of Brain, John, James & Paul A. First leg (Guisborough to Sleights) should take about 1.15 - 1.30hrs and we will stop at the fish and chip shop where there is ample parking. John R will head this section and set a sensible pace, with opportunity to enjoy some fast flowing roads and views. From Sleights, Brian M will lead us on and we are going to double back slightly to Goathland and then across to Rosedale Abbey. Roads will get skinnier but should be quiet and a good "7" road. From there, back to and crossing Blakey Ridge to do some up-hill and down dale on some smaller roads (but all easily passable in a 7) finally ending up at the Buck Inn in Great Ayton should anyone require a coffee or alike. Should be a cracking day out and well worthy of any travels you do to get there. If you are planning on coming, please can you drop me a line so I have some idea of numbers. 10. Red *** fun. In and out of the car park. The North East group were in the conservatory having a meal and drinks. Could not get outside quickly enough to say hello.
