  1. Please excuse the numpty question (and slight O ring thread hijack), but what does one use to lubricate the 'O' ring - silicone grease?? On a vaguely related matter, reading the build manual in preparation for my build, in the section regarding fitment of the gearbox to the engine (Duratec 6sp), the manual advises you to smear silicone sealant over the O ring that goes around the selector shaft - is this correct, as silicone grease and silicone sealant are quite different products, aren't they? Thanks (and apologies again) Chris
  2. For a soon-to-be new kit builder with lots of tarty carbon bits (e.g. front and rear wings, aeroscreen, tillets etc), would you advise going down the clearcoat +- Gtechniq route from the off? - as it would be much easier to get these preventative measures done prior to the build. Not meaning to hijack the thread Chris
  3. OK, thanks very much for the replies. I think I'll be going for the whole kit, so I'll get in contact with PPG for a quote to supply and fit once it's built. Chris
  4. Hi I'm planning my R400 build which is due in the Spring, and have been advised to make sure I apply a paint protection film such as: http://www.paint-protection-film.co.uk/caterham_selection.html I will be having unpainted front and rear carbon wings (bit tarty but hey-ho), does anyone have experience of using this stuff?: -Is the film best applied before assembly, during or after? -Is it fairly easy to apply well, or would you advise getting it applied professionally? -Do unpainted caterham carbon wings need (or benefit from) film protection? Thanks for any advice Chris
