  1. Many thanks to you and Chris for all your efforts sorting refreshments and shelter at Hethel. Pleased RaD got something out of it as well. Very good day, hopefully to be repeated.

  2. Similar hiccups with my oil temp were down to the sump sender. Spade wire connector on the sender is also vulnerable being so low down on the engine. Try the wire connection, but probably will end up needing a new sender.

  3. Just fitted the LED rear lights to our CSR Chris. Our fuse board is as described by Jonathan, but having swopped the flasher relay for the provided LED version, there has been a tendency for it to "play up". If Blue reckons 4/5 have been swopped, have you tried giving it a good "wiggle" whilst switched on? Presumably the hazards have packed up also. My original relay was 3 pin (spade) connection, but the LED is 4.

    Cheers, Roger

  4. Public thank you to JV, speedo back in operation thanks to excellent instructions. Will follow up other aspects of speedo calibration etc on my return.

Worth mentioning that I had a backup plan. Damian of Chapman cars kindly offered to set up the speedo for me if my attempt failed. Just had to catch him at the right time as he got back to the hotel after the all night disco! Seriously though, thanks for the offer of help.

  5. Thanks John, that's really interesting. Filled with fuel just before getting on the ferry and reset the trip. I wonder? Joining the Portofino bash tomorrow, but will check code as soon I get an opportunity. As far as I could tell ( car on jack, no axle stand, bright sunshine and turning hub best I could) the LED was illuminating consistently as the castellated wheel revolved. The speedo is slow across the speed range, nothing much registering below 20, then slowly dragging itself round to 30 on the dial as speed increases through 30 - 80. Defiantly a case of "go slow" not "go then stop"

    thanks, Roger

  6. Still in the south of France (not expecting any sympathy) with a knackered speedo. Lots of help from you good people out there and I'm poised to replace sensor and sort earth on my return to Blighty. Today I've been entertaining the locals with my head buried in the rear wheel arch confirming that the sensor does operate as it should ie the led switches on/off as the wheel rotates. As Neilcsr described, the sensor isn't lined up with the wheel very well, but it seems to work. Anyone else out there that has a slow reading speedo ( read 30, doing 80, no sticking needle) with a sensor that appears to be reading ok? Views on what else may be broken are very welcome.

    Thanks, Roger

  7. This is a fortuitous thread as I travel through France to Portofino with a defunct speedo (at 80 read 30). Been fine for years until disembarked the St Malo ferry, now depending on Satnav to avoid speeding fines. About to have a reccy in the hotel car park, having read this (and other ) threads, think I'm opening a can of worms.

Would some kind sole send me the earth mod WN please, can see me getting stuck in on return to Blighty.

    Thanks, Roger

  8. Apart from the benefits of lower cabin temperatures I didn't notice any changes in my CSR200 after the Zirotec treatment. I did have an overheating problem when the temp sensor located at the rear of the engine between cylinder head and dry sump tower caused odd behaviour of the cooling fans, either off, on  all the time or working properly, due to corroded contacts. Otherwise the car always tends to run cool. When the fans stopped working I rapidly overheated and lost coolant (from the expansion bottle) when stationary after a run.

  9. Just measured mine, sat on the trailer with as much weather protection as possible ready for the weekend. I've a SBF7's half hood on and I measured 875mm from the front edge of the screen to the top centre line of the main rollbar hoop. This down the centre of the car as you asked. My hood fits pretty much the same as with the original non-FIA bar.

May be out of Internet range until Monday, but if you need more let me know.

  10. Hi Chris,

Sorry, must have dozed off for a couple of weeks! Not been able to do a back to back comparison of Zircotec v wrap for instance, but subjective assessment tells me the Zircotech was a success in heat reduction. Costly I know, but happy to recommend. As Neil says anything to reduce heat going down the transmission tunnel (chimney) is a good thing, especially in a summer traffic jam.

  11. I've made big improvements in heat soak into my CSR by having the primaries Zircotec coated. I've also put Zircoflex sheet on the previously uninsulated areas around the bulkhead. I've got the droopy dashboard so stripped out the trim from the gear-lever back and added some more Zircoflex sheet. If and when I strip out the prop shaft I'll take a look at the transmission tunnel sides.

  12. Been running the bypass pipe for a couple of years now. I don't believe that there are heat transfer problems from the exhaust, my footwell has cooled by using Zircoflex around the bulkhead / footwell in the engine compartment. There is no noticeable performance change even though the bypass / Raceco combination was used when set up by the 2 Steves. It's certainly quieter than the standard system. I've solved a lot of the heat problems mentioned by Croc, again by Zircoflex application under the prop shaft trim.
