After searching through a manual provided by Jonathan I found the following on connecting the loom terminals to the alternator:
Two Thick Brown Wires With Large Spade terminals and one Brown/Black cable with small spade terminal
Does not matter which way round the large spades are connected to the alternator.
The Brown/Black is connected +B Terminal on the alternator.
All as shown in picture #10

Both, #5 and # 10 (Stephen)

Johathan do you know the colour codes of the 3 wires?
Stephen looking Left to Right on your what colors are we looking at, am I correct in assuming the left cable is a lower amp rating then the other two?

Thanks I will try and get in close to check out wires and colors.
Are most of the 94 era alternators Lucas.

A long story but I have damaged my alternator end cap and cannot sort out the connections?
Are these simple spade push connectors or are they contained in a single plug in connector.
I probably need to replace the end cap in full, are these available as a separate part or do I need to replace the complete unit.
Awkward spot but can anyone supply a picture of the connections.
Thanks

Hello Graham
Not fitted yet, but I am sure all will be well. (Topped up with small amount of fluid and plugged outlets to keep seals moist.

Ian a refurbishment could be option for consideration at a later stage, the good thing is that a retro refit for originality would be a simple task.
I will checkout Car Builder.

Thanks for the information Andrew.
Existing pipework is in excellent condition so no issues on that front and like your's my brake light switch is hydraulic on a short run.
Job looks straight forward just a matter of getting hold of a flaring kit, "T" piece and fittings etc.
My M/C is as you show in the link.
-
Thanks Andrew
Could I not insert the "T" adjacent to the throttle pedal and just cut into the front lines and run a new pipe to M/C. assuming I can utilize the existing rear connector?
What fittings do I need to connect to new M/C- Tee Piece and brakes. What size brake pipe. Are these metric or UNF?

My 94 X/Flow is fitted with the old Vauxhall Viva master cylinder which has the following connectors. one for the rear brakes and two for the front brakes
I intend to replace the obsolete unit with a current standard M/C.
What connectors do I need to purchase to carry out the mod (metric or imperial?)and what is the best way of doing it.
Is it a simple cut and insertion of three way tee piece.
