Club Trackday Cadwell Park Download the booking form for the Club’s trackday at Cadwell Park Cadwell TRACK DAY BOOKING FORM Mar 16 MC+JB22-2.pdf, or find it in the March edition of Lowflying. Those who have driven the UK’s “Mini-Nürburgring" will already know what a fantastic circuit for Sevens it is. If you haven’t yet – then there’s a real treat awaiting you! It’s no surprise that Cadwell Park is a firm favorite with many drivers; driving it is a roller-coaster thrill throughout, from the fast and flowing Coppice/Charlies complex, to the unique “mountain” where the faster cars will momentarily get airbourne to the tight, twisty and demanding Hall Bends. The trackday takes place on Friday 27th May 2016, and is exclusive to Club members and their guests. The day will commence on a sessioned basis, but with the intention of moving to an “Open Pitlane” format if and when this is deemed appropriate. Free coaching from qualified ARDS instructors will be available on a “first come first served” basis and the day is appropriate for drivers of all levels of experience.

If you have ever fancied having a go at speed events (sprints and hill climbs), on March 26th the club will be holding the biannual Intro to Sprinting day at Curborough near Lichfield, Staffordshire. The event is designed for members who have never sprinted and without the pressure of a competitive event. As well as a programme of sessions during the day designed to give you all the knowledge needed to get started, experienced sprinters will be on hand to answer any questions and give further encouragement. There will be presentations giving you all the information needed to get on track. A scrutineer will be present to advise on any car modifications needed. There will be track walks led by championship winning drivers and there will be extended sessions where you will have the chance to drive the course and receive advice from experienced sprinters. Finally there will be passenger rides with existing competitors. If at the end of the day you want to take it a stage further the club runs 2 events at Curborough every year which are open to club members without entering for the full championship. The cost for the day is a very reasonable £59 which will include food. All you have to do is turn up with your 7, a helmet and FIA roll bar will be needed for track driving. To register complete the form here and send to Sam Pearce with your payment. If you need further information please contact Graham Howard (grhmhoward@gmail.com ) or Paul Collins (paulsixwen@hotmail.com)

A poll by Classic & Sportscar magazine to settle automotive arguments has been held in 66 countries over the last six months. The short list of ten finalists of which the LOTUS 7 was one included the original Mini Cooper S, original Range Rover, RR Silver Ghost, Austin 7 & Ford GT40. It is nice to see that after some 58 years our little car is still remembered around the world for its design statement. The outright winner was the E-type Jaguar.
