UFFINGTON WHITE HORSE SHOW CAR STAND
    28/29 August 2106
The village of Uffington, beautifully placed between Swindon and Oxford will hold its annual White Horse* Show over 28/29 August. It is a great show and for a village event punches way above its weight in ambition and scope. Every year there is an historic and classic motorbike stand. The organisers would love to see a Caterham Seven stand and are very keen for cars to attend; my Seven will be there. Time is short as the deadline for entries has passed, but late Seven entries are still very welcome. They would join the other 165 plus vehicles. The registration details are at:
http://www.whitehorseshow.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/Staionary-Engine-Booking-Form.pdf (It gives the driver and the passenger free access to the show)

Please contact Callum Skeat for any local knowledge. His contact details are in the event listing here.
(Please note that car/motorbike exhibitors do not require the 3rd party liability certificate mentioned, just a street legal wagon)

Legendary British car manufacturer Caterham Cars will showcase its ballistic Seven 620R model at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed (June 23-26).
The event’s 2016 theme is ‘Full Throttle – The Endless Pursuit of Power’, which fits perfectly with the pant-wettingly fast nature of the 620R – the most powerful production Seven ever built.
The blisteringly quick 620R will feature on the hillclimb every day in the ‘Race Car for the Road’ category. The car will be driven by former British GT champion, Jon Barnes, who began his racing career at the Caterham Graduates Racing Club.
Caterham will also be exhibiting on the Niche Vehicle Network stand, located on Stand 37. On display will be a Seven 420R, equipped with an innovative ultra-light chassis.
David Ridley, Caterham’s Chief Commercial Officer, said: “Goodwood’s ‘Full Throttle; the endless pursuit of power’  theme is perfectly suited for Caterham and, in particular, the 620R.
“We have been building the most engaging, exciting and fun cars to drive for over 40 years and our cars are synonymous with perfect balance and intuitive handling – they’re not known as racecars for the road for nothing. This year, in our own endless pursuit of power, we’ve developed new chassis technology which makes even more of the fact that our cars weigh about the same as a postage stamp.”
The 420R on display at Goodwood features an ultra-lightweight chassis developed in conjunction with similarly iconic bicycle frame maker, Reynolds, and computer aided engineering consultancy Simpact. It is the first car in the world to feature a chassis using butted tubing technology taken from the manufacture of bikes.
The 420R on show will be a fully road-registered car to demonstrate the practical and viable uses of the chassis. Illustrating the link between car and bike, the stand will also feature a racing bicycle built with the Reynolds tubing.

Caterham Cars has provided us with the timetable for this weekend’s open day, and is hoping to see as many Club members as possible in attendance.  “Last year’s inaugural open day was such a great event” said David Ridley, “that we wanted to make it a regular occurrence.”
The day will kick off at 09:00 with cars being invited to park on display within the extensive reserved area surrounding the showroom.  At 09:30, Caterham CEO Graham Macdonald will make an opening speech.  Carl Geatrix, the designer behind the LEGO Caterham model will then provide an update on project progress at 10:00.  The keynote speaker, script writer Richard Porter (the man responsible for making Top Gear funny) will be on stage at 10:30, followed by a book signing from 11:00.
Hot food will be on offer, and there will be a Caterham parts sale too.  Throughout the day, test drives of the full current Seven range will be available.  To keep the children entertained, an Easter Egg hunt will be organised and other attractions will include the Let’s race simulator, Autoglym car valeting demonstrations and more.  Free Caterham health checks and a Concours competition offering fantastic prizes are also on offer, both of which require pre-registration.  See Caterham’s advert on the back of March’s edition of LowFlying for details. The day is scheduled to wrap up at 13:00.
Caterham’s Crawley Showroom is located at: Dialog Fleming Way, Crawley RH10 9NQ

Throckmorton Handling Day – (at Throckmorton Airfield, between Stratford upon Avon and Worcester)
    Date: Saturday 25th June 2016.
Building on the success of the last two years, the Worcestershire area has once again arranged for us to take over this great facility. This former RAF site has a runway layout which provides a gigantic area of tarmac that will become a playground for the day where participants will be able to test their cars’ performance and handling to the limits, in a safe environment.
The plan is to make best use of the expanse of tarmac in a variety of ways, including setting up:
    • Slalom course – explore the buzz of whistling around the course with just a few strategically placed cones for company
    • Drift area – it may look easy to “hold the back out” when you see the pros do it, but now it’s your turn to find out…
    • Standing 1/4km - Who needs launch control? Practice the perfect getaway as you blast down the track.
Catering will be available on the day so there will be no need to leave the venue other than to occasionally top up the Sevens’ fuel tanks.
    Event Pricing:
Entry to the event, including full access to the driving activities is priced at £25 for a car and one driver. Additional drivers can share a car for £10. Passengers and other spectators are welcome to attend for £5, and under 16s are free.
Please Note: To keep event costs as low as possible, we will be asking that all attendees be willing to also participate in at least 1hr of marshalling to help ensure that the event runs smoothly and that everyone gets a chance to enjoy the activities. It’s actually a fun part of the day, and a great opportunity to gain a different perspective on the driving events (and to pick up useful hints so you can do even better when your time to drive comes around again!)
    Booking Form:
The booking form is enclosed in March's LF, or can be downloaded from
