Slider7
What is the rate of the standard springs at the front & rear (as fitted to a standard roadsport - non widetrack) ? Are the springs color coded ??? Need some standard springs for my Norway trip since the car is now on the stiff side for comfortable touring . Is it difficult to change the springs yourself ? Any special tools needed ? Thanks
Mike Bees
150lb/in front, rears are progressive with a range of something like 80-180lb/in IIRC. I'm not aware of them being colour coded. They're not hard to change if you've got adjustable platforms. Mike
Slider7
Thanks Mike Anybody know if springs are different wide track to std track
Mike Bees
I'm almost certain they're not - although the wide track fronts should be stiffer to get the same wheel rate as narrow track. Mike

jimmyslr
Slider... As it happens, I have spare springs from my widetrack SLR in the garage. You are welcome to make off with them when you drop the seat in a couple of weeks. I do not think they are anything too stiff.
oldbutnotslow
Ive just changed all 4 springs to the 250/215 race set up. It took about and hour and a half to do the fronts and about 2 1/2 hours to do the backs. Getting the top eye to align is a real bugger on the rears. Took it out for my first blat late yesterday afternoon. The ride is a little plank like and I did need to see my dentist to have my filling replace anyway. (toothy smile less the teeth!) No seriously its much more compliant that I thought it would be. The main problem is too much toe out. When the car hits a bump its jumping around on the front but it was doing this before the spring change anyway. Good luck on your Norway trip Grant Black and stone chip. Engine now running (thanks Oily!) Got the first 300 miles under my belt here
