Felix E
Morning all. I seem to remember a thread that suggested these are only there for protection during transport and should be removed post build. Is that correct? Best Regards, Felix.
Myles
What? The strips across the lip of the nose and scuttle??? I've still got mine - they give it a nice, snug, fit and can help prevent rattles/paint-damage. Keep'em. Project Scope-Creep is underway... Felix E
Thanks Myles, not those, the ones running the length of the engine bay longitudinally as opposed to transversely. Best Regards, Felix
Myles
OIC - can't remember seeing those on any cars - certainly not on mine. Project Scope-Creep is underway... Alcester Racing 7's Equipe - 🙆🏻™ Alcester-Racing-Sevens.com
Frying Pan
Felix Yes, the ones along the chassis sides are only there for delivery and should not be fitted. As Myles said, the others should be kept. Guy See some pictures of the build here. 5000 miles completed!
oldbutnotslow
Why should you not have thin foam strips in the edge of the bodywork? Is there a particular reason? I fitted some 2mm thick ones on mine about 6 months ago without problem. Having said that my bonnet is somewhat battered! Grant Black and stone chip and currently not going ☹️ but waiting to me made better courtesy of Dr. Dave Andrews. Not long now hopefully?! here
Nifty
I put some on my bonnet to give it a tighter fit. Why should you not keep them on Keep off the straight and narrow 😬

Jimchap
In my recent build kit I was supplied with thin foam strip which I cut to length and fitted along the full length of the bonnet after I had removed the transportation foam which consisted of 4 small sections. It certainly gives a nice fit and stops any rattles from the bonnet. Jim the Jock FJ05XLE BRG Roadsport 140 SV

Grubbster
I fitted the strips on mine but Caterham said I shouldn't have done. I didn't like the thought of metal to metal rubbing together so I left them on. Roadsport build photo's here Le Mans 2004 photo's here
Nigel Riches
I fitted some PTFE tape on the mating surfaces of the bonnet and the body, no more grey ali paste as the two surfaces rub together, but I can't under stand this talk of rattles from the bonnet, mines held down quite tightly with the catches and springs provided. 1982. 5 speed, clamshells.
