Dobuy
Just doing the valve clearances on my Duratec 2.3 and have a couple that need tweaking I'm sure AMMO told me before, but does anyone know how to decode the bucket numbers? Also the tolerances according to Haynes is 0.22 - 0.28 Inlet 0.27 - 0.33 Exh. Is it OK to work within these tolerances or should I try to get it pretty well in the middle. I am using a 280 degree cam. Duratec Se7en SV, built in Dubai, pics here! Rob Walker
0.010" inlet and 0.012" exhaust
Rob Walker
0.010" inlet and 0.012" exhaust is mid range. I have just fitted the Kent D-TEC 35 cams which are 280 degrees and the base circle of the cams was machined the same as the stock cams it was therefore no surprise that the clearances were correct with no need to re shim. Dobuy
Yep, my cam is from Kent and its pretty close, however, there are a couple that need at least 2 thou adjustment So just need to figure out what the bucket size code means, for example 302, 322, 342, 362, 382, 402, 422 Duratec Se7en SV, built in Dubai, pics here! AMMO
Dobuy Although the Durtec is a metric engine the followers (which also act as shims) seem to go up in 0.001" (one thou increments).  The followers go up 20 at a time. So 422 is a thou bigger than 402. Capisci? AMMO
Dobuy
Thanks AMMO, was waiting for you to pop along, what took you so long, not working I hope. Thats just the info I needed, with a bit of shuffling I should be able to get them all within reasonable tolerances.  Duratec Se7en SV, built in Dubai, pics here! se7enmad
Dobuy would'nt have had any trouble either, had he picked up that bag at the clinic... 😬 😳 😬 Antonella 1998 Caterham Classic my site heremore photos here
Taran Las
Antonella, I tried to steal the bag, but Ammo caught me and sent me to stand in the corner of the classroom. 😬 😬 😬 If I'd succeeded, I could have sold them to Dobuy for £10 each and used the money to buy leaded fuel to fill the tank of my Xflow.    Edited by - Taran Las on 6 Mar 2005 09:23:

Dobuy
I thought about it but was worried I would wake up in my hotel room the next morning with a horses head next to me. Duratec Se7en SV, built in Dubai, pics here!

Dobuy
AMMO, I fail to see how that would put me off nicking your buckets, sounds like an incentive  Duratec Se7en SV, built in Dubai, pics here!
