I reproduce them below as they are so relevant to many people on these forums. The ASEMC, LCAMC and AEMC will be using the same rules: ************************ The Class structures for 2005 will be as follows :--- A. Road Going Saloon and Sports Cars (Excluding Category B Kit Type Cars and Replicas) 1. Up to 1400cc 2. Over 1400cc to 2000cc 3. Over 2000cc B. Road Going Kit Type Cars and Replica Cars (Including Caterham, Westfield, Sylva, Fisher and Lotus 7, Elise, Exige, Vauxhall 220 - and derivatives of any of these cars) 4. Up to 1700cc 5. Over 1700cc C. Modified Production Sports and Saloon Cars (Excluding Kit Type Cars and Replicas, Caterham, Westfield, Sylva, Fisher and Lotus 7, Elise, Exige, Vauxhall 220 and derivatives of these cars) 6. Up to 1400cc 7. Over 1400cc to 2000cc 8. Over 2000cc D. Single Seater and Sports Libre Cars 9. Special Saloons, Group B and GT1 Sports Cars, World Rally Cars, Kit Type Cars and Replicas [of any capacity] and any other cars not complying with any of the above classes. 10. Pre 1996 Formula Ford 1600 and Formula First (both on any control wheels and tyres accepted by the MSA for this class) and Clubmans B cars. 11. Single Seater and Sports Racing Cars up to 1500cc 12. Single Seater and Sports Racing Cars Over 1500cc Notes : 1. Cars using forced induction will be classified as having an engine capacity increase of 40%, those using diesel fuel a reduction of 50% (eg. a 2000cc turbo diesel will be considered to be the equivalent to a 1400cc normally aspirated petrol engine). 2. National A Speed or Race licences are required to be held by drivers of Sports Libre Cars and Single Seater Racing Cars if over 2000cc in accordance with GCR. L.7.1.5. Sports Libre cars include Special Saloons and Sports Racing cars as specified in GCR. L.14. 3. In the event of a dispute concerning the compliance of a vehicle to the regulations for the event the onus will be on the competitor to prove the compliance to the organisers. Changes to the Existing Supplementary Technical Regulations are : ALL VEHICLES MUST COMPLY WITH MSA SAFETY REGULATIONS Definitions of Categories A, B, C and D (MSA Year Book Regulations L10, L12, L13, L14 and L15 are not negated by these regulations). Categories A & B: Road Going Cars Cars may be modified subject to the following : The main chassis structure, suspension configuration and the number of seats to remain as standard. No internal trim may be removed (except carpets), the back seat(s) must be complete and of the original type. The front seats may be replaced but both must be capable of carrying a normal adult in a reasonably safe and comfortable manner. All glass and its raising and lowering mechanism must remain as originally fitted (except windscreen, which may be replaced with one of laminated glass if not fitted as standard). Cars in Category B may use aeroscreens. The bonnet, doors and boot lid need not be of the original material but the silhouette above the centre line of the wheels must remain as standard. Wheel arch extensions are not permitted unless fitted as standard. The original type of cylinder block, cylinder head, gearbox casing and differential casing are to be retained and in their original position. Tyres: Cars in Category A may only use tyres in List 1A of the MSA Year Book Regulation R.3.1.1 for 2005 [and last year 2004]. Cars in Category B may use tyres in List 1A or List 1B of the MSA Year Book Regulation R.3.1.1 and R.3.1.2 for 2005 [and last year 2004]. GENERAL RESTRICTIONS (A and B) Road Going Cars Cars must be taxed, insured and MOT tested (where necessary), and road legal in all aspects. Documentation must be produced at signing-on to verify this. Only those cars listed in the price lists of Top Gear, What Car, Autocar and Motor magazines for the year of manufacture are eligible for classes 1 to 3. © Modified Production Saloon and Sports Cars Production derived vehicles not complying with the requirements of Categories A and B. Cars must comply with MSA Year Book Regulation L.12. (Competitors are reminded of MSA Regulations L.12.5.1 and 12.5.2 of the 2005 Year Book regarding engines.) (D) Single Seaters and Sports Libre Cars As MSA Regulations (where applicable) except for wheels and tyres which are free, apart from Pre 1996 Formula Ford 1600 and Formula First which must run on any control wheels and tyres accepted by the MSA for the class. ian crocker Posted October 31, 2004 Share Posted October 31, 2004 Se7ens used to run with saloons and sports cars here until about 10 or 11 years ago when they got their own class which was fair enough. Then the Elises etc got moved into the class for similar reasons about 4 years ago. Bit of a rough deal for them, but they were murdering the Astras and 205s etc in the saloons class.
