Side Exit Exhaust - overhang???

MJ

Recommended Posts

What is the recommended 'overhang' / length of the exit pipe in terms of length of pipe +/- the rear track of the car.

Measuring and bending copper wire so exhaust man can complete DIY exhaust / silencer (6") upgrade on my x/flow and at present (dry assembled - not welded yet) the side exit pipe is about 1 - 2" wider than the rear wheel / rear track.

Is this OK or should the exit be within the rear track of the car *confused*

Gong for weirdist question of the evening perhaps 🤔

Well, FWIW, my k-exhaust doesn't overhang at all.

Take a look at the 2nd piccie down here

The angle of the pic doesn't help, but you can pretty much see/work out that the pipe is within the track/extremities of the car - and this is using the outermost rear bracket setting to clear the paintwork.

I had a closer look at mine last night after writing my previous reply. The extremity of the pipe is pretty much in line with the outer-edge of the tyre (6" width wheels - the wing is slightly wider still....)

So, no, I don't think so in my case...
