Tony C
Following intermittant brake light activation I gave the switch a GOOD flicking, which seemed to sort-out its problem, and decided to monitor the situation. Car's only a year old and 18000 miles, so I suspected corrosion. Tonight, same problem; so off with the switch and dissasembled it. It seems that the small rectangular copper bit which moves with the plunger and makes the contact between the spade terminals, has been rubbing VERRRRY slightly against the plastic case and depositing it on one of the fixed contacts. Also present was what looked like a 'vasaline' type grease. So the plastic dust and the grease had made a nice insulator for one of the contacts. Cleaned it all off, applied a "smidgin" of copper grease and nailed it all back together - let's hope it now works ALL the time. Real easy to take apart, just two little plastic tabs on the base which locate in two slots in the case - mind the spring 😬 BRG Brooklands SV 😬 It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye. Pete
I have the same problem and find that the switch needs cleaning about every 3 months. They are cheap to replace tho'. Perhaps we brake too gently................
