Sideways Mike
Gents, because i'm underweight for racing regs I need to add balast (approx 10 kilo's). Where is the best place to put this? Central to the car I:e in the passenger footwell or nearer the rear end (in boot space)to improve the overall front to rear weight distribution cheers mike. Manxseven
As low down as possible, so 'bolt' it on the underside of the floor. Simon Emmens Caterham and Pussy Photos here 😬
dino ferrana
You sit in the back and the De-Dion cars are rear heavy so I would reckon further forward would be better. Watch out if you put it underneath that it doesnt get grounded out and lose weight during the race.
Sideways Mike
Last year I removed the passenger seat and bolted it to the inner floor where someone would sit. I was just wondwering if there was an ideal position. Every little helps. Mike
GTD
The regs will tell you (like as not) that it has to be bolted to the cross members where the passenger seat should go - have never seen anyone put it under the car - strongly suggest you don't do that, as an inadvertent (or vertent ) run over a kerb could rip it off, damaging the car and more importantly rendering you underweight at the end of the race, incurring the loss of points and a telling off by the steward and scrutineer! For mine we melted a load of lead into an ingot in an old baking tray, and then used ali straps bolted across the cross mombers to hold it down. The flatflooring will help you work out where best to adjust it. Paul D Jones
Its so simple corner weight the car and set the ride hights up and add the weight to make it as near perfect as possiable with you in it and the appropriate amount of fuel in it. some cars need to have one corner jacked up to lift/through weight away from the corner you can set the hight as you want it and move the weight to get the corner weights right Paul.
