Mark Adderley
Help !! Driving back home last night, I suddenly lost my instrument panel lights. Initially I thought it must be the fuse, but it looks like the fuse is shared with the heater fan and that's working fine. Headlights/indicator/brake lights etc are all working normally, as are the warning lights for indicators/main beam etc. Can anyone advise where I should start looking? Nothing too technical please - electrics give me a headache!! Cheers Mark
Manxseven
Mine does this now and then. If I wiggle the light switch they work again 😬 L 7 BDA and Pussy Photos here
Swiss_Tony
As already stated the light switches do play up from time to time. I guess being open to damp etc does not help. You will probably find when this happens the rear lights and front side lights do not work either. I have taken mine apart a few times and cleaned it and it works a treat James Su77on Se7ens
Graham Sewell
Another possibility would be the earth connection under the bulkhead near the wiper motor. Low tech luddite - xflow and proud!
Nick Woods
Check that you dont have a loose bulb hanging out from the back of the instruments. If it touches the dash it can short and blow the fuse that operates the instrument lights and the right rear lights as well Nick Red and Black 1.6K supersport
Mark Adderley
All Thanks for your replies; oddly enough, the rear stop/tail have stopped working on the rhs and the front rhs sidelight has also stopped! I'll have a good look around tonight - once I've worked out how to get my head under the dash without getting stuck Thanks again - I'll let you know how I get on (assuming I'm able to get out the car again!) Manxseven
In case you get stuck, take a mobile with you 😬 L 7 BDA and Pussy Photos here
Richard_E
Tried the mobile thing, works very well Now moved SPA guages for the all important oil pressure and temp. You can have a green or red back light.
Nick Woods
stop/tail have stopped working on the rhs and the front rhs sidelight has also stoppedIt definitely sounds like a blown fuse to me Nick Red and Black 1.6K supersport
Mark Adderley
😬 Nick - you're spot on - it was the fuse! I hadn't realised that as well as a fuse for 'heater & instruments' there was another one for 'instruments & tail lights'. Silly me! Big thank-you to all who have offered advice ion this thread Cheers Mark (1.4SS 30K & counting!!)
