CharlesElliott
Hopefully a quick question for anyone with four point harnesses (Caterham supplied). I've just fitted mine and expected the black mounting plate to be able to swivel once tightened. But it can't. Is this right? Alex Wong1697456877
I left the springy washers out on mine so that it can turn. It wouldn't turn without them. This doesn't seem like a good idea as one side of the strap may have to do most of the restraining if it can't.
CharlesElliott
Thanks Alex - just to clarify, did you mean 'it wouldn't turn *with* them'? Charles --- My Caterham Academy 2004 Diary
Smegnoguk
I agree with Mr Wong. I did the same thing for the same reason. Two wongs must make a right 😬 Who's looking at the Ferrari? Nobody, that's who! Edited by - Smegnoguk on 13 Sep 2003 22:55:
Alex Wong1697456877
If I had a penny for everytime...... Yes. I meant it wouldn't turn with them.
Grubbster
Hi Charles, I fitted mine today and yes they do turn and I do have the crinckly washers on! Make sure you have the spacers right side up and under the harness mounts. See some photo's here It's arrived - build in progress
Jonathan Ratty
I agree. My harness plates can turn, and I am using the small spring washers. Again, I suggest you check that the you have the correct 'top hat' washers fitted that allows the plates to turn when the bolts are tightened. Regards, Jonathan
CharlesElliott
Thanks - I'm pretty sure I got it right but will check again. They did turn, but gradually got stiffer as the torque increased - at 45lbft, they basically won't move at all. Alex Wong1697456877
I found the same. Definitely assembled right. I can't see any prob with leaving the washers out.
