Ive been offered a MK2 elise VVC engine for £795+vat.

Normal k- series 1.8 for £595+vat

i would swap it for the little 1400cc K.

Is it posible to put in it in the caterham?

Is this a good price?

Has anyone done this 'afore

tips and help welcomed

yes that was me, sounds like a good price but budget another £1000 for the installation

Make sure you this includes the correct ecu and imobiliser and plippers as I had to spend £ 200 on a new imobiliser and re-matching it

thanks for your advice

ive gone for a plain 1800cc from Dave Andrews, which he' seen working.

good point about the immobiliser-

ive just had my immobiliser replaced 2 days ago.- Do i have to phone the geezer who fitted it again?

The S2 Elise does not use a Rover ECU so it does not any matching immobilisers or anything like that. If you get hold of a Caterham VVC engine harness, which I think has a mod to fit the ECD3 style ecu, then the Lotus ecu may not work. Of course if you get a Rover MEMS3 ecu then it will all be ok but you will need the matched stuff again.

Thanks for everyones help! Collected the engine yesterday.

Spoke to DAve Andrews yesterday- a v knowledgable engine guru.

I now have a big oily 1800cc engine from an VVC, MGF sitting in my garage!

Monsiuer Carmicheal is gonna give me a hand at swapping over.

We'll get it running using bits from the old 1400ss and then up the Horse power later.

At least i can make the tea and hand him screw drivers during the operation.
