Hydraulic Clutch Adjustment

Recommended Posts

As I'm putting my car back together (2006 Roadsport SV with VVC K-Series) I've adjusted the clutch release arm as per the build manual with 2-3mm free play.

Measuring the amount of thread left before and after I have a lot less left.

The old CRB was pretty loose and empty of grease.

Does my adjustment look OK, or should I take out the slop?

I suffered two failed hydraulic slave cylinders before ditching the hydraulic system and fitting a clutch cable. No other parts required. Took about 20 minutes. So much nicer to use and easy to carry a spare cable.

Does there need to be a precise measurement? If it feels right it probably is right.

Not popular but I preferred hydraulic. Once sorted there is nothing to adjust and when it goes wrong it generally works badly before packing up so less chance of a roadside repair and more likely gets you home. I was not so keen on the feel of cable but this probably a personal thing just down to doing so many miles on hydraulic. I do though a have a cable coiled & tied to the chassis just in case.
