  1. Thanks, that's really useful and comprehensive information. I do suspect those bolts on the bush. Copper washers are a neat idea. I'll see if I can add those when I get it apart again.
  2. Well after all my effort of fetching the engine and box out, new seals and gaskets, cleaning it all up and new fluids, it still seems to be leaking 😔 I used blue Hylomar on the gaskets to try and ensure it was sealed properly. Going through this process I can see what seals where, so I'm confused as to why is still leaking. And it's not consistent. It was dry for a few days, then suddenly there's some oil. I'm not sure why it's still leaking. The only thing that I can think is the heavy duty bush at the bottom of the front of the gearbox, however I couldn't work out how this could be removed or sealed, and it never leaked from this point while it was sitting on my bench for several weeks with some oil still in the box. I'll have to manage it and monitor it for now and try to take it out at some point in the future. Just a bit frustrating. Although I've learnt a lot about the car while doing this 😅
  3. I've emailed Redline recently for something else and also filled in their form but never had a response. Maybe I'll try calling them for these. Cheers
  4. I'm looking to get a spare throttle cable and a clutch cable for my K Series VVC engined SV. From Caterham that's a quick £110 for the pair, which is a bit more than I was expecting. It's there a suitable cheaper alternative available these days? I've not found much myself so far

  6. Thanks for this. I didn't find that thread before, and the picture with the t piece on the modern coolant tank is really helpful to explain it. Thinking about this initially I was concerned it would just allow coolant to bypass the rad but I guess as the tank is pressurised to some degree it prevents that from happening. I've ordered some hose, brass t piece and clips to implement it that way. Thanks again
  7. Interesting idea. Would it be big enough diameter? Also would it cope with the coolant temps OK too?
  8. That's a great idea, thanks for the recommendation, I'll give that a go
  9. I'll try and take an accurate measurement tomorrow, but I think it's roughly 8mm diameter. I did unscrew the bolt to do the bleeding, but it felt a bit messy to do that when water was coming out of there. The perished bobbin is on my todo list 😁
  10. So it looks like my K Series radiator isn't as standard and doesn't have a bleed screw, but an extra take off. At the moment there's a short length of pipe with an allen bolt in the end, which kind of works but is fiddly to get it properly bled. I've tried looking for a bleed valve or tee piece I could put in here, but they all look to be for bigger diameter pipe. Does anyone have any recommendations for how I could improve the bleeding situation? Cheers
  11. As I'm putting my car back together (2006 Roadsport SV with VVC K-Series) I've adjusted the clutch release arm as per the build manual with 2-3mm free play. Measuring the amount of thread left before and after I have a lot less left. The old CRB was pretty loose and empty of grease. Does my adjustment look OK, or should I take out the slop? Before After Video of it now
  12. If they're the same as on my 2006 SV with a K-Series (and I'd assume so for this kind of part) they are 5/16" and 1.75" long fitted with nyloc nuts and a washer
  13. Still putting it all back together, but I found it interesting that the LuK CRB I ordered is actually the same SKF one that I'm replacing....
  14. So wouls a logical upgrade be the Apollo tank, removing the need for the foam, and the maintenance that goes with it?
  15. How do people fit them at the back? I wasn't really clear when I gave my new one a go where the straps go around the rear lights.
  16. Worth checking all the major earths and power connections for corrosion/dirt?
  17. Thanks for the recommendations, much appreciated. I'll take a look at them. Looking at what's fallen off it does seem to bit of old washer fluid pipe. I'll see what I have in my garage.
  18. I've just started cleaning the gearbox and there was actually a gasket between the gearbox and bell housing. It was so mucky I couldn't make it out before
  19. Can anyone recommend the best place to get the set of gaskets and seals for the Type 9 gearbox? I've found this place (although it states the website is closed at the moment) https://www.bearingkits.co.uk/Contact-us/I2.htm and it looks like Redline Components have them too. Also where should I get a Clutch Release Bearing from? Caterham or does someone do a better one now? According to the build manual there's a plastic sleeve that goes over the clutch arm pivot pin at the bottom of the bellhousing. It look like mine's broken as that fell out when I split it. Is there a suitable replacement available from somewhere? Finally I've read quite a bit about there being a gasket between the bell housing and front of the gearbox, but there wasn't one on mine. Or an o-ring that I can see around the selector shaft that sticks out of the front of the gearbox. Is best practice to apply a circle of Hylomar or similar around this hole so it seals against the bell housing and prevents future leaks?
  20. Cheers, John. Hydraulic clutch. The clutch felt OK to me, but I'm still relatively new to the car. It didn't slip or have any obvious issues though.
  21. Cheers. It was something funny on Firefox on Android. It is just wasn't uploading attachments. Chrome for Android worked OK. I suspect it's just my phone playing up there
  22. Finally managed to get the gearbox out of the car today. It's very grubby and seems quite oily around the front of it. I need to give it a good clean to start having a look over it, but I think it maybe a good idea to replace all the seals and gaskets whilst it's out. Also, I wasn't expecting the clutch release bearing and pivot arm to drop off. Seems quite loose and wobbly so something else I'll replace whilst it's all off.
  23. I'm not clear on that. Judging by the state of the sump gasket (felt brittle and had cracked along one part of the "shelf") and the way the foam disintegrated I would think it's been in there a long time. I've removed the foam now, and fitted a new drilled sump gasket provided by oilyhands.
