JP
It's coming to the time when I need to refit the windscreen and my new scuttle is not drilled for the stanchion mounts bolt holes. Is there a method for finding reference points for drilling the holes to ensure that the roof does not sag / actually reaches from the rear of the car to the windscreen top poppers and so that the rear of the the doors line up with the rest of the body?I do have my old scuttle so I could try to measure distances from corners etc. Is that the favoured method or are there reference points elsewhere? SM25T
Have you got the channels fitted with captive nuts. Line up with those holes. This bracket makes life easier and gives rigidity to screen mounting.
JP
No I haven't. I just have the scuttle retaining flat plates. The pics below are the old setup, but the replacement is the same as below: Do you mean these brackets?LH bracketIf so, the slotted base holes suggest that there is still lots of potential for forward and aft variation if one were to use these as a reference tool for marking up the drilling points... Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted July 9, 2023 Leadership Team Share Posted July 9, 2023 Why not just trace a template from the old scuttle ....
Phil G
SM25T has a good point. Buy a pair of quick release channels and save yourself a lot of agro. You may even go aero!
JP
#4 - I think that will be the way to go. I've a few other similar jobs to do - drilling the front and rear wings etc...
