paul jacobs
As we know, earlier Sevens used the Ford Type 9 gearbox, not from a Sierra but from the 2.8 & 3 litre Capri, because, I believe, it had slightly better ratios and bigger bearings, but can anyone tell me if there are any identifying features on the outside of the box to quickly tell which is which? Was the input shaft slightly longer, necessitating the use of the ali. spacer or am I wrong on this? Many thanks in advance,Paul.
Wrightpayne
There is a plate on the front of the box held on with 3 bolts not present on the std box.I think it originated from the 2WD XR4iIan

paul jacobs
Thank you both for your input, it has sorted out my gearbox, which is not an XR4i box, but a standard Sierra box - sadly.
