Stuck seat sliders

I'm trying to remove my seats and they seem to be stick fast and I can't get them to move forwards or backwards on the sliders.

Does anyone have any tips for freeing them up?

What type of seat? Does the base come out?

Does the release lever move at all?

The sliders get covered in crud and small stones. Are you sitting in the seat when trying to move it ?  If it won't move, then taking the seat out and cleaning everything is the best bet. Not easy to get to the bolts on your own and they tend to spin. It's frustrating but you will get there in the end. Putting grease on the sliders can cause issues as it attracts the dust/stones , so I am not sure what the best solution is. I just used WD40.

They are leather seats and the bases do come out.

The release lever moves ok, the seats just seem stuck fast on the sliders.

What Piers says. 

There are several different approaches to making it easier to tighten and release the bolts: various tools, welding or otherwise fixing the nuts to the runners... but if you have a problem from where are you now how about cutting a transverse slot in the free end of the bolt and using a screwdriver to hold it still while you run the nut down? Usual soak in a penetrating fluid if needed.

I had this issue. I used a 2.5lb manual device to move them to & fro before replacement. Carefully applied and with some timber between the subject & object.

Thanks everyone for all the advice.

I've managed to get the passenger seat out ok in the end.

I removed the front bolts and then unbolted the seat from the runners to remove the rear bolts.
