Dear All,

Can someone give me the proper product references for a K&N filter replacement to the original cylindrical one fitted by Caterham which lays, very tired, into my engine bay? Also are there any items needed for the K&N fixing which would need to be added on top of what K&N would deliver (screw, etc...)? Engine is standard 1.6 k series year 2001.

Thank you

Apologies - whilst trying to tidy up old duplicate threads I managed to delete the one with comments rather than this one... so I will add back in the replies with reference to who made the post and when. I have updated my duplicate thread processing so this should not happen again.

The K&N RU-1480 fits just fine.

Nothing else needed other than the Jubilee clip. I can't remember if it comes with one but if not you can swap it across from the old filter.

They're robust, durable, washable and sound nice!

I've had one one on my car for a few years now and it's been fine.

The one thing that's not obvious from the picture above is that rubber mounting neck is slightly angled, so it sits at a slight angle to the TB rather than straight as with the Caterham / Pipercross foam filter, but it's not an issue. You can angle it however suits to fit the space.

The photo is your collection of course, Andrew. : - )

"The K&N RU-1480 fits just fine."

The K&N site uses that part number for the ridged type... Caterham Parts for the foam type...

The Caterham Parts product includes a clip.

Yes those part numbers are slightly confusing.

The Caterham one is either a rebranded Pipercross one or something every very similar. Straight fit and foam.

The K&N one is a cotton gauze filter, slightly angled fit.

In my experience, the foam ones are much more prone to falling apart than the K&N ones.

Fantastic. I think I will go with this K&N replacement.

Thank you very much for your kind and detailed help

I have the K&N too and the slight angle is fine / not noticeable.

I got mine from Opie oils with our discount code.
