Different question on battery

Hello All

I'm working on a battery box Mk2 for a electric outboard motor.

The electric outboard requires a 12V DC supply, at maximum power it will use 30Amps. It's very rarely used at full power.

I'm thinking of using a 24V battery and use a voltage reducer to drop it to 12V.

If the battery has a capacity of 100Ah at 24V dc as I am reducing the voltage to 12V does it mean the battery will have a capacity of 200Ah at 12V ignoring the efficiency of the voltage reducer?

Roughly yes.

What reducer are you considering?

What's the advantage of doing it that way rather than using a 12V battery (or several) and avoiding the DC converter?
