2009 Sigma SV - Brake hoses change every 4 years/fuel lines 6 years

Scotland North AR

Recommended Posts

Hi, just thinking about my next 2nd Annual service which will occur at 64,000 miles and 13 years after registration. The owners manual calls for the change of brake hoses every four years, fuel lines every six years.

Have people done these things that regularly?

Do you know why they are recommended?

Obviously due to the mileage and age they should have been done but to my knowledge they haven't been.

Answers on a post card to....

Thanks for any advice.

I would inspect carefully all rubber fuel lines I found significant cracking in mine, some of which were Ford components

Mine have been replace with Gates Barricade R14 hose.

Braided brakes hoses also suffer degredation as dirt penetrates the stainless overbraid and abrades the nylon inner lines as they flex in operation.
