Duratec footwell temps -- heat insulation kit

An update on the insulation...

This is what came in the kit:

There were no instructions, but working out what goes where was simple enough.  The triangular pieces come in matching pairs, and fit in the spaces between the chassis members in the tunnel. The two pieces bottom row left are for the footbox sides, the two square-ish pieces on the right are for the footbox fronts, and the long strip on the far right fits on the tunnel roof.  I'll be cutting the latter piece in half as I don't plan to take out the national-grid cables that pass through that area.

An essential (and most unappealing) job was crawling under the car to thoroughly clean and degrease the tunnel panels. 

More news later on how effective all this stuff is in keeping my pixie boots (and their contents) cool.

Here are a few pics. I followed advice in #22, but used SS ties. Which work well.

The only mod I should have made was to fold the first coil over to make a clean edge. If the primaries come off again., I will do this.

I havn't trimmed the ends of the ties in case they need a tighten after a few hot/cold cycles.
