Transmission woes

A problem with the Jag transmission, it's an XK, which defaults from automatic to manual of its own accord.  The "cancellation module" has been replaced but the fault persists.  It appears to be related to turning the steering wheel, mostly to the right but not always and the paddles are working properly so it's not being caused by inadvertent catching of the paddles.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like an intermittent fault with the steering sensor. The sensor is used for both stability control and transmission calibration. Usually if there's a fault on one of the input sensors the transmission defaults to manual.

If it happens when you turn the wheel I’d think it might be a faulty clock spring, or whatever the jaguar term is for the rotating connector assembly that goes between the column and the wheel.
