Neanderthal
I have refurbished cups and track rods but still have movement perpendicular to rack travel. I need to replace plastic inserts at the rack housing ends. Does anyone know where I can get them or have any lying around that you would be prepared to sell. Cheers. L66TEY
If its the milky yellow plastic bearings you are referring to, try Titan Motorsport in Little Paxton, St Neots. Or direct from Igus.co.uk Chris
Wrightpayne
There are posts in the archives stating that Titan wont repair / sell spares for Caterham racks. It is also alleged the Lotus Elise rack has the same internals ;-)This is purely based on what I've read on this forum rather than facts I know! Neanderthal
Thanks guys, managed to source some. They have a gap along one side so can be opened and put over the rack bar. Does anyone know if I can remove the old ones and these can be fitted without removing the cups / buckets again? Cheers
Tazio
In the interests of knowledge sharing, can you put the part numbers and supplier in this thread, so future readers can gain from your part sourcing skills? Alan
L66TEY
Reply to #3 I can confirm the "alleged" is correct - as I used to work at Titan ;)
L66TEY
Reply to #4 I would recommend removing the cups/buckets again, as I don't believe the Linear Igus Bushes have enough flex to open to the bar diameter without affecting their quality of operation - aka "break". Neanderthal
Thanks all, yes I sourced an elise rebuild kit from titan allegedly. Chris I am not sure the Bush would come out anyway without drawing the rack into the body having thought about it a bit more . I may get away doing only one cup by drawing the rack all the way through to get access to both ends. Just trying to avoid faff of redrilling and pinning if I can. Any thoughts?
